This format war chess game is not over yet. Sony owns its own movie studio Sony Pictures. Perhaps one day Microsoft might purchase Universal Studios and become Microsoft Studios releasing exclusively on the HD-DVD format and creating a market for combo players where both formats coexist.
I would love to see Universal Studios go neutral and release in Blu-ray. The big question is will Universal every make the decision to go BLU-RAY?

universal has plenty that I would love to have on BR - How freakin' sweet would their old Monster Movies look w/ a 4k remastering from a good print (probably unlikely if not impossible, but one can hope)? Dracula is one of my all-time favorites, do they own King Kong (the original, not the bastardized Pete Jackson version).

Universal films I would buy:

Apollo 13
Jet Li's Fearless
The Mummy movies
Breach

That's about it

Gladiator is distributed by DreamWorks HE so it should be on Blu-ray if it ever gets release right?

Twelve Monkeys (maybe)
Dawn of the Dead
Shawn of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Jesus Christ Superstar (lossless audio a must)

add:
Conan the Barbarian
Conan the Destroyer
(neither are very good but I think I'd like to see them in HD)

I'm just now reading that BSG is Universal. I did not know that.
