[Show spoiler]Madden NFL 13 Roster Update #3 Details

by pastapadre
Posted September 13th, 2012 at 9:15 am

The roster update for Madden NFL 13 following week one of the season is set to release on Friday for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. The start of the season update that will be made available as an option to begin Connected Careers with will also be going out tomorrow after a delay pushed it back from releasing sooner.

Ratings movement in the new update is mostly limited to a single point in either direction. Big weeks that were had by the likes of Robert Griffin III, Julio Jones, Brandon Marshall, Geno Atkins, Tony Romo, Peyton Manning, and Jimmy Graham all resulted in a one point boost. David Akers goes up two points after his record-tying kick, Stevan Ridley and Tim Jennings also go up by two, and Stephen Hill makes jumps by three. Meanwhile players that had poor performances such as Brandon Weeden, Ryan Tannehill, Michael Vick, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Chris Johnson all received just a single point drop from their start of season rating.

Teams benefiting the most from the update in net players gaining points are the Ravens, Redskins, and Patriots (+9), Broncos (+8), and Eagles and Bears (+7). Those taking the biggest hit are the Titans (-5) and the Steelers and Giants (-4). Continue on for the full list of details on the post-week one Madden NFL 13 roster update!

How about a vote on the player speed difference slider? In my offline leagues in both Madden and NCAA I have it at 0. You see a LB run down a swift WR? Its because the slider is 50 by default. It negates the speed difference of players. Set lower increases the speed difference so that a fast player is fast compared to a slow player.

It makes sense but most of us are use to playing with that setting. Putting it at 0 basically means the faster team should win. That was Madden 11 in a nutshell. I guess if there was a strong amount of support for this we could adjust it, maybe to 25.

It doesn't mean they will win but if you have a mismatch you might actually be able to take advantage of it vs having a slow player all over your receiver. Release and press help negate speed, depending on your DB ratings.

Moving sliders don't always do much anyway. I have offensive pass interference at 100 and defensive at 75 and have yet to see either. Now if you bump up roughing the passer by 10, you will see it 2-4 times a game.

So can we use a legend as coach?

If you line up a 96 spd wr vs an 86 spd db on a fly route, the DB is usually chasing the wr after 20 yards depending on their starting depth.

In the real NFL intangibles are just as important as physical attributes, and EA has yet to figure out how to make this the reality in game. Until then I would rather have the sliders evening things out, as opposed to having to bench stars just b/c they have low spd ratings than.

I play with the Bucs, not known for speed at all on defense and have the #1 rated defense in the league with it set at 0. But with the AI LBs so fast against my WRs and RBs, I have one of the lowest rated offenses when it is set to 50. But whatever, is of course fine. Just try some games offline yourself and check it out. And can we play as a legend coach?

I imagine that since all the legend coaches are being unlocked in "early Sept" that they may be unlocked with the roster update, if they haven't already. Just wish they had Shula, most wins of any NFL coach.

That's fine too. It would mean the time would have to be changed to 6 min quarters and changing the accel clock to 20 sec.

Quote:
Quarter Length: 8 Minutes

Accelerated Clock: ON / 15 Seconds

In other news. Can't wait for the roster update. I need some increases on the defense for the Birds.

those two things don't affect the game play as greatly as the player speed does. Accelerated clock to a degree, but gameplay needs to be consistent imo

I used to like long games and then noticed the "underdog" factor in Madden and NCAA where in the second half the team ahead, their players start forgetting how to play and the team losing catches up. Maddening alright, lol. I make lots of pre snap adj, esp on defense so the longer, for me, the better.

Just got some tips delivered to my iPhone. I've been studying these tips for the past few years. That's the reason I'm so great at this game. I work hard, study hard and practice using these tips that get emailed to me every week.

I believe that you start with a lot of XP points right off the bat and you spend them on things like buying a package that makes a player at a certain position get more points for you to spend on progression. I've only started as the Bucs coach. I did take over Philly online and Reid early in the season had a ton of points to spend, more that he could have had, I think, from just playing games. There may be other things like motivation or performance they add, not sure though.
