HI, i would think it to be a customs issue ? Around Christmas time the customs are very busy and sometimes have really a long back log to catch up on . I would not wait more then 21 days before submitting a claim of non reciept to Amazon.de .

Just beware if you have to submit too many at one time or over a short period of time they are more then likely to place the account on "oberservation" meaning soon they will boot it if any problems occur.

If you need any assistanace in talking to them in German i can help as i am Fluent in the German language.

Wish the best and hope you get it resolved SOON !!

I had one batch from an Amazon.de order arrive, but all the steelbooks in the order got held up or lost somewhere. They just shipped out a replacement.

I've had four Zavvi steelbooks not show up, and two others that were actually bent.

So... yay customs!

Default Amazon.co.uk shipping steelbooks in cardboard sleeves

So far I received two dented steelbooks sent in those thin cardboard sleeves. At this point, this is worse than Zavvi's white boxes.

Should I try to reorder them from Amazon.co.uk?

Of course, I will be returning the above dented steelbook. It is Amazon's shipping fault and lack of any bubble wrap.

Contact them via chat.

Their packaging is mediocre at best, but their customer service is 1,000,000,000 times more effective. They will send another copy for free without the need to return the damaged version. At least, that's how it has worked out for me in the past with the rare occasional problem that I have encountered.

The risk of requesting a replacement and getting it damaged again is too high. They have shipped replacements in thin cardboard sleeves that offer no protection.

I reordered a steelbook with another BD and I am hoping that the amaray case will offer some cushioning on one side of the steelbook at least. With some random luck, next time it arrives I will be successful in obtaining a dent-free steelbook.

Fallback is Zavvi.

Well, that is interesting since I've ordered 5 or 6 from Amazon Germany without a single problem. All arrived without any damage. Amazon UK I had 1 damaged and 1 missing that got replacements sent out immediately. Those replacements arrived promptly and free of harm.

I've never had a problem with the many Zavvi orders either, but I've heard too many customer service horror stories to use them as a fall back. I'd rely solely on Amazon + 2 replacements via their customer service LONG before I'd rely on Zavvi as the "immediate fall back without trying to get a replacement from Amazon" option.

Default Thor 2 steelbook question

I know this is really late for a post for this movie, but I missed out on pre-ordering the Thor 2 steelbook from Best Buy (lesson learned; I now make sure to pre-order steelbooks I want from BB). I liked the movie well enough, but I was so ticked off that I missed getting the steelbook (at that price!), that I've never bought the movie. I've decided recently that I'm going to just going to go ahead and bite the bullet, and get a steelbook off of eBay, but there aren't any copies of the US version for sale.

My question to you all is, what are the differences between the US version and the versions from other countries? I'm thinking of getting the Zavvi one that looks just like the Best Buy release.

Also, is there anything I should watch out for when buying steels off of eBay (fakes, etc.)?

missed out, damn son, this is going on 3 years from the day soon!

ebay is pretty good. just make sure you go with someone with a really high seller rating. make sure the condition is new and sealed. read all the details (if any) in the description and also, if possible, find someone that list a 15 or 30 day return policy.

one last thing, movies come out on Tuesday, so, check on Monday's to see what's coming out the next day so you don't have to fess up and make threads like the one you just made.

good luck on ebay, I have bought plenty and for the most part have been very happy with everything.

keep us posted.

Thanks solarrdadd. I did try to pre-order like a week or two ahead of time online, but they were already sold out. Then I was lulled into a false sense of security by The Dark Knight Rises Steelbook release (I saw that steelbook in stores well after release) and thought I could rush to BB after work and snag a copy of Thor 2, but some jerk wiped out my stores available copies seconds after BB opened, grrrr.

I'm more specifically looking for info on whether the steelbooks from other countries have different audio or different extras, etc. I only speak english, and I wouldn't want to get a copy from Germany and find that there isn't an english audio track, for instance. And I'm worried about fakes. Are there fake steelbooks out there, and what should I watch out for?

And more specifically still, how does the Zavvi release (with the regular cover, not the lenticular cover) compare to the Best Buy release?

For me it depends 100% on the art. I know that it seems like a copout answer, but I have seen glossy stuff that I wish had been matte and vice versa. I've also seen glossy stuff that I am glad was glossy and matte stuff I am glad was matte.

Depends on movie and/or art.

Check out my YouTube vid guide to removing the spine using the above mentioned hairdryer technique to replace the artwork.

That might be true, but the main forum is for individual releases and Retailer lists... Now a good subforum (to go along with the Collection Galleries) might be SteelBooks Discussion threads. That way things like this can be in their own place

It's all neoz fault I bet
