Does this Jurassic set include the stuff from the JW exclusive bonus DVD? Trying to find out if I need to hang onto that.

I think you can. That's a cool set of bonus materials, unlike what's on the main disc. I have it too, from the two-disc special edition DVD I bought -

To me and many other JP fans, The Lost World is a great adventure and worthy of the first classic film. Forgive me if I just don't see the problem with drawing parallels between two adventure films that I find to be similar. It's not like the quality (or perceived lack thereof) of one detracts from the other when they're in proximity.
Like whatever you want to like, but these films aren't in the same league.

Yeah, and this is your opinion. Spielberg himself prefer TLW over Temple..

But why exactly does he prefer TLW over TOD? Because of its qualities as a movie? Or because of the circumstances surrounding it? His life situation at the time of shooting TOD wasn't the best after so all so that could also lead to thinking less fondly of it.

I like TLW a lot, but there's no doubt in my mind that TOD is in a completely different league as a movie.

I think you misunderstood my point a bit: I was not saying that folks are offended by me or anyone else liking TLW. People (including you, as I recall) seem to be offended that I'm calling the two films somewhat synonymous with one another, which I find to be ridiculous. Let it be known that I still think the two films are quite different, I just think they have some similar ingredients. I apologize if my initial post that you were quoting came across as self-important.

By the looks of it, Universal is just throwing in the standard Blus of each film with the 4K discs, so it seems likely to me that Jurassic World will not include those extra bonus features as they were not on the initial Blu (and given that this is Universal, I sincerely doubt they've bothered to revisit the disc just for bonus features -- they can't even be bothered to revisit discs to improve the quality of the film in most instances).

If you say so. I, myself, subscribe to the idea that art is subjective in nature (i.e. everyone has their own "leagues"). That said, I still think it's a good practice to attempt objectivity, even if I consider it to be mostly unobtainable. In the spirit of that idea, I'll concede that Temple of Doom is probably the more well-made of the two films. But that doesn't mean I think the other is poorly made

I saw earlier that there are single film releases coming out in other countries - if I really just want the first film, 4K discs are region-free correct?

Videoeta is also listing a Jurassic Park 4K Trilogy with the same release date in addition to the complete set. The trilogy will of course only have the 3 Jurassic Park films.

In a way it's real tempting to get only the trilogy set. Once JW2 is out it will be annoying to have a 4-movie collection set consisting of the JP trilogy + JW and then have to buy JW2 as a standalone.

Thanks. Nice avatar btw. I remember that being the cover of the kiddie novelization of TLW I had way back in the day, and for some reason I remember having a lenticular card of some kind that showed the T-Rex breaking through the logo. Was that the VHS cover?

Are they not doing individual releases? I really just want to pick up the first movie.

they're probably just doing like what they did with The Mummy for example, release the collection first and the individual movies a few months afterward, which was 4 months later in The Mummy's case. So they will probably come out around October, released the same day Fallen Kingdom

That was my first thought too, but I know I'll be drawn to have them all. I love Jurassic Park too much. By the time this releases I'll have a $20 GC in rewards, so if it stays around what it's listed on Amazon, a $68 release point... and I can make it $48, I'll bite. $12 a movie is well worth it.

Which release were you watching? The 2011 or 2013? I have the dvd 2011 and watched abit of it on my 55 inch 4k using a 4k blu ray player. I was very surprised how well it looked.

2013? Is that the one from the 3D release? Is that a different transfer to the one in the trilogy set?

Let's try this again, shall we?

I'm not a fan of steelbooks, but that looks mighty tempting!
