  2. The Fantastic Four
  3. Fantastic Four (2005)
  4. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Oh yes, the overrated one that's already been out for a month.

Paper Towns is out though, that's a good film. Inside Out has a lot of positivity around it too.

Am I the only person who thinks Ghostbusters looks AWESOME? Slightly redesigned look but general faithfulness to the costumes and car from the original. Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feige. Strong female protagonists. It deserves to do well.

There were about 10-15 people to the showing I went to on Thursday. But it was basically all teenagers as it was like 4pm. Some ~13 year olds went out of the screening and were just like "Ant-Man was better."

the best director commentary for the blu ray would be Trank drunk AF yelling at the screen and *****ing about Fox executives.

I would pay extra for that.

That's probably the only thing that would get me to buy this hot mess of a movie.

I hope they make a deal , Marvel should get the FF back and ask for the rights to share Gladiator and his race and Fox should be allowed to make all the X-men tv shows they want . Then they can both be happy . I wonder if then Fox would make some TV shows in their X-men movie universe , that would be kinda cool .

Fox would make a deal to let Marvel use Wolvy in the MCU before they'd give F4 over me thinks.

And I'm still laughing at the idea the Fox executive pitched last year about F4 and X-Men doing a crossover movie.

Even if the FF movie were done right it still would barely break even so if Fox wants to just keep loosing money and giving Marvel the finger well I guess they could but that would be kinda stupid when they could be making X-men TV shows and crossing them over with their X-men movies .

I really don't think that they are allowed to cross the FF over with the X-men without Marvel's permission .

Marvel has NO rights when it comes to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in film.

Wolverine is the reason the X-Men movies have been successful. F4 had been a nightmare for them. Why would they give the rights to Wolverine before F4? That doesn't make much sense.

From what I heard Fox didn't get those franchises together , the contracts they have for them are separate and it doesn't say anywhere that they can cross them because that was never intended when they were written . I would assume if they could cross them over they would have by now . But really even if they could it wouldn't even matter the FF will never be block buster material .

More than the four themselves, I have heard Marvel wants their periphery characters: Galactus, the Silver Surfer, etc.

Okay......so is it safe to guess that in the near future, Marvel will have this franchise back? I can't imagine Fox doing yet another reboot of this anytime soon.

I just came back from watching it. Bear in mind that I've never read the comics nor watched the cartoons or the previous films. I can only judge the film on its own merits.

I'd describe it as an interesting failure. The first half of the film was surprisingly decent and I found myself wondering what all the negative word was about. Then there was a '1 year later' title card and any opportunity for character development pretty much went out the window. The film didn't really cope with the characters trying to come to terms with their altered beings and I felt that too much was glossed over.

The film definitely has an identity crisis. For the most part it feels like a drama as opposed to your typical superhero film - it's almost devoid of action and it's very enclosed and claustrophobic - and then the last twenty minutes suddenly decides that we need a villain and we get the typical showdown between the good guys and the baddie. Is 'It's clobbering time' The Thing's catchphrase or something? In an otherwise melancholy film, it stuck out like a sore thumb.

You could tell the reshot scenes from a mile away, and that's ignoring the woman's very obvious wig. They disrupted the flow of the film. It was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. I guess I'm stating the obvious because of the film's much-publicised problems. I think Trank wanted a body horror/drama instead of a superhero film, a great idea in principle. Maybe my bias as a horror fan is showing, but my favourite moments were the ones in which things got kinda nasty. The problem is a) I don't think it was executed well enough, and b) the studio obviously weren't gonna have it.

I don't think it's as awful as people are making it out to be, but neither is it particularly good. I'm curious as hell as to what Trank's original cut of the film was like. Had the film not had a tacked-on third act in an attempt to make the film more conventional, I reckon we could've got a half-decent film at least. As it is, all I see is wasted potential.

That's because the FF, interestingly enough, has all the best vilains (aside from Magneto and Thanos) in the MU.

It's like another studio than Warner woud have the rights to Luthor, Zod, Joker, Brainiac and Penguin.

I just keep picturing Josh Trank being wasted, having a meltdown and smashing things back at the house like Martin Sheen in the Apocalypse Now documentary Hearts of Darkness.
