That's a valid concern. However Peter Pan's premise is quite boring. Wonder Woman has a more interesting storyline. I'm sure Patty Jenkins is motivated enough to make it sure that she has a good product.

Snyder should be involved at least a little, yeah? If so, I trust him to make sure we get at least a solid Wonder Woman film, he has a good track record with strong women in his movies.

Someone should give a memo to movie producers that no one cares about Peter Pan or Tarzan anymore.

.... I dunno about that. Sucker Punch for all this girl power nature in there... didn't really do much for creating those women to have any sort of depth. They were just pretty at best. Dolls/action figures essentially. He's talked about it and I GET what he is saying but his execution of it was poor. Add in that none of the action, for however pretty it was, lacked any kind of substance to it.

I agree. I DO like Sucker Punch, but the message and theme went over most people's heads, which is a sign of poor execution, as you say. Having read about how people interpret it later on I've come to appreciate it a whole lot more, but it's hidden beneath so many layers that most people just won't notice and mistake it for something it wasn't intended to be. I'm not one for being spoon-fed morals and messages, but Sucker Punch really could have used some more clarity.

Suicide Squad Trailer and Wonder Woman Sneak Debuting on The CW

SUICIDE SQUADWONDER WOMANBATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE ARROW DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW MOVIE NEWS THE CW THE FLASH TV NEWS TV PREMIERE DATES
BY CS ON DECEMBER 30, 2015

Suicide Squad trailer and Wonder Woman sneak coming January 19

It’s a full night of action from DC Comics on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, as The CW presents two all-new half-hour specials, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time is Now (9:00-9:30pm ET/PT), and DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League (9:30-10:00pm ET/PT), which features the world premiere of the new Suicide Squad trailer! The specials will premiere following an original episode of The Flash (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT).

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time is Now is an in-depth look at the origin stories of the heroes and villains of the highly-anticipated new series, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, premiering Thursday, January 21, 2016 (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT). Featuring show clips and interviews from “Legends,” Arrow and The Flash executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, Phil Klemmer, and Wendy Mericle, “Their Time is Now” introduces viewers to the immortal madman Vandal Savage, the time master Rip Hunter, and the motley band of heroes and rogues he assembles to try to save the future of humanity: Hawkman, Hawkgirl, White Canary, The Atom, Firestorm, Captain Cold, and Heat Wave.

DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League invites viewers behind the scenes of the exciting new movies coming out of the DC Films universe, culminating in the thrilling world premiere of the all-new Suicide Squad, DC’s misfit crew of antiheroes forced into saving the world this summer, with director David Ayer. Hosted by filmmaker/writer/lifelong comics fan Kevin Smith, with special guest DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns, the special showcases the explosive landscape of DC’s greatest heroes, kicking off with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in theatres this March, and with a sneak peek from the upcoming Wonder Woman feature film.

Get a look at never-before-seen footage, and see interviews with such stars as Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, and directors Zack Snyder and Patty Jenkins—just a few of the creative forces behind the much-anticipated film franchise that will bring together the greatest collective of Super Heroes in the upcoming Justice League feature film. And because no Super Hero could make his or her mark without a truly formidable foe, the special also provides glimpses of DC’s most famous Super Villains.

I've mentioned her previously - and apologies if she's been mentioned - but Lucy Lawless circa 1997, would've killed it as WW. No contest.

I still think it's a random setting for Wonder Woman's first film to take place in but I'm optimistic towards this.

At least it's not WWII, I'm so burnt out on WWII films. I have zero excitement for Nolan's next project. I couldn't care less about that story.

A pity no one wanted to make a Wonder Woman movie back then, because "women superheroes don't work", if I had my conspiracy hat on I'd say that Supergirl and Catwoman were made on purpose to make the studios right.

I never bought into the Lucy Lawless hype, for me at the time i wanted to see Catherine Zeta-Jones in the role, she would have been in the mid-twenties at the time and perfect for the role

In fact here she was in 1998 in the first Zorro film

Just in that photo she gives off the perfect Princess Diana vibe

Yeah, CZJ was my choice back then, too.

But by the early 2000s I had moved onto Priyanka Chopra.

Good shout. I never gave CZJ much thought as WW, but she has that dusky look that would be perfect for the character.

CZJ would have been the perfect Wonder Woman... sadly no one listened to my cries and pleas and prayers and threats.

Connie Nielsen Cast as Wonder Woman’s Mother

By Spencer Perry
January 15, 2016

Wonder Woman’s mother cast for the feature film

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Danish actress Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, Nymphomaniac: Vol. I) has been cast in the role of Wonder Woman’s mother and queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta, for the upcoming feature film. Some of Nielsen’s other recent credits include “The Good Wife,” “The Following,” and “Boss.”

Starring Gal Gadot as the title hero, Wonder Woman also stars Chris Pine (Star Trek, The Finest Hours) Robin Wright (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (Clash of the Titans, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Exodus: Gods and Kings, Snowpiercer), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).

The film is being produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, with Richard Suckle, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Rebecca Roven serving as executive producers.

Joining Jenkins behind the camera are director of photography Matthew Jensen (Chronicle, Fantastic Four, HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (Amélie, A Very Long Engagement, Pan), Oscar-winning editor Martin Walsh (Chicago, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, V for Vendetta), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (The Dark Knight trilogy, Topsy-Turvy).

Principal photography will take place on location in the UK, France and Italy.

Set to open on June 23, 2017, the Wonder Woman movie is based on characters created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

That's fantastic news. Connie's one of my favorites. And she's perfectly cast as Hippolyta.

Rock on.

I would've preferred Lean Headey.
