Hoping Paramount Presents announces A Place in the Sun and/or The Bridges at Toko-Ri soon. We know the first is coming just when and I would have to imagine the second given the Imprint release is also coming via the Presents line.

Coming To America was supposed to be for the December release of Coming to America 2. Which is now set for March on Amazon Prime.

Beverly Hills Cop was supposed to be a cross-promotion for that. I bet Trading Places and Golden Child got snubbed on purpose.

I hope Imprint does it soon in Oz. The German disc, which only contains a German dub, is such an annoying tease.

Recently rewatched it and was blown away by how well it aged. Timeless story, wonderful score, witty script, and great performances from everyone involved.

Lady Sings the Blues (1972) was released on BD this week; please update the appropriate list.

Curiously, I ran into it in a local Walmart where it was $9.96 -- roughly $5 cheaper than any online seller. Almost passed it up as I was looking for another movie & didn't find it, but when I saw its price on Amazon, Best Buy & Target I went ahead and bought it.

Paramount will region-lock titles when it wants to, even if they don't disclose it on the packaging. I noticed someone has already verified Lady Sings the Blues is Region A-locked, even though it doesn't have a region logo. (I'm not aware of any other studio owning the international rights, but it's possible as the original copyright belonged to entities related to Motown Records, its director & one of its producers. One of the Motown-related entities, Jobete Music, is now owned by Sony/ATV so Sony might now have veto power over video releases.)

Paramount pulled the same stunt with the 2K BDs of Braveheart, Titanic & Gladiator many years ago, probably because others own their international rights (Fox for Braveheart & Titanic, Universal for Gladiator). Even the more recent UHDBD/BD combo packs of Braveheart & Gladiator fail to disclose that the 2K BDs are Region A-locked; generally the only way to know that is thru the database here.
