But I highly doubt anyone here has it.
Hell, I vividly remember seeing my first rock band in a club - Van Halen, January 1977.

....but I lose my car keys almost daily.

Shoot, I remember seeing Van Halen and nobody knew who they were. They were the 3rd act of a concert and listed as TBA. Journey was the headliner, with Montrose as the 2nd act. Cost for a ticket : $4.96

In reference to those who are able to recall the look of [Horror of] Dracula in cinemas in 1958/9, well I wasn't around then but I did see the BFI restoration I think on the night of Halloween 2007 in Edinburgh. It was very late at night and in fact I had to wait in the only city public house with a 4am licence (and buy a pint!) to catch my bus home without waiting ower an hoor in the cauld.

Anyway, the film appeared superb, with full grain, digitally projected as advertised, and assuaged my fears of such a presentation of a classic 35mm film. I cannot remember if it had the same blue hue of the subsequent 2013 UK Blu-ray (which also has the 2012 Hammer restoration of course). Only that it was, to me, flawless (no scratches or specs), and looked fantastic. It was dark and moody looking, deeply though not brightly coloured!

Horror of Dracula looks really fine to me but Scream Factory needs to redo Dracula Prince of Darkness.

Please just ignore that nutter! You’re only encouraging him.

Scream Factory already put more effort in on that than I thought they would.

are you planning on financing this idea? we're lucky they did this at all and need to accept that. sure those of us on this thread love the movie and consider it a classic but in the grand scheme of things movie wise it's not held very high. if the title was projected to sell tons then it would have been a regular release. it's not so obviously WB only has so much faith in it and thus budgeted accordingly. they made an effort and didn't just slap it out so there is that. just enjoy the movie

I have the UK edition-I think that edition is fantastic, supplements and transfer at the time. I think the new release looks better, to my eyes. If a 4K disc was announced tomorrow, I'd order it.

Speaking of that, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the original 2007 BFI restoration was largely financed thanks to at least one private donor.

I can't tell if you're being heavily sarcastic or if you're serious.

It looks really good, but that quick shot needs to be fixed. It looks like they held on to the fade too long.

It's a shame about that minor issue, but otherwise, this blu ray does look really good IMO.

Anyone know when the next Archive sale is? I'm trying to make myself wait on this and The Thing from Another World and I'm about to break. I need a reason to hold off!

I'm hoping not for a few months because this is probably too new to be included in the sale if it happens in January.

well, they fooled everybody here by breaking trends and not having a sale in December... not sure what to think or predict now.

Hopefully soon....

and yeah I'll be doing an "8 for $88" sale at this point versus the 4 for $44 as there are lots of titles I'm waiting on!!

Yep. The Thing, Horror of Dracula, Dark of the Sun, Village of the Damned, Gun Crazy... etc, etc. Argh... I'm going to be so broke this new year.

Somewhat off topic, but which Hammer Film should I buy next? I'm not truly region free at the moment (I can play a blu from any part of the world on my laptop, as my LG external blu-ray burner allows me to play them all, but I'd rather watch on my tv), but have decided to take the plunge, and will be getting a region free player in February. So BFI, Warner Archive, etc....the distributor doesn't matter to me.

Am I best served by getting another Dracula film? Or, should I look at other aspects of the Hammer universe? I am finding I enjoy the classics of the genre-I loved the Bela Lugosi Dracula from 1931, and, though it's been quite a while since I've seen it, I can say the same about Boris Karloff's Frankenstein. I have never seen Bride of, but will be ordering that after the first of the year. I'm finding the more I watch, the more I appreciate the mythology. I plan on importing Eureka's The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Nosferatu with my next import order, so I'm open to films from any era.

I'm pretty much open to anything, guys.

Easiest answer is to get either the Warner Brothers “Horror Classics” 4 movie collection or the Universal Studios “Hammer Horror” 8 film collection... or both!

Be informed that the UK and I think AUS releases of the Hammer films have a decent set of extras for each title. They might be more expensive, but see if you can get this pack from Australia, it has several good films in it:
