Thanks. I wonder, then, what the difference was between the "Stereo" and "Surround" options in the original PS2 titles--those options are not available in the Collection now.

yeah, im prime too, but i wont get it till tomorrow, its fairly certain that everyone, including sony, underestimated the demand for this and nobody, including sony again, had enough copies to meet demand, so it took a couple extra days to get all the shipments out

I'm not positive as it's been a while since I played GoW on PS2. However, I seem to think no, because I remember the first time I played it back in 2005 that I was upset that I couldn't max everything out (I'm OCD that way). I believe it just starts you at the last save point before the final boss. I didn't find out about the red orb glitch until 2007 when I dusted it off for GoW 2. Then my OCD was happy and I maxed everything out.

Im guessing Dolby Pro Logic II has flags/markers or something imbedded in the signal that tells a Dolby PLII compatible receiver what parts of signal to send to the sorround speakers. So even though they're both 2.0 signals, they're slightly different, hence the option. Thats just my guess.

You could also play the sex mini-game for a week straight, probably.

I guess if you were that determined, you could! But even that, I think, diminishes the quantity of red orbs rewarded after a few times through.

I think that after the fifth playthrough of it, it stops giving orbs.

Default How are you guys liking God of war collection?

Did you like it better the first time you played it on the ps2 or now on the ps3 since you already know everything about it? Also By any chance does anybody know if you have to update your system to 3.00+ to be able to play this game. I havent updated since the one before 3.00. Sorry for asking this question again.

I think that's a personal preference question if you like games better on consecutive replays. I think for most people that's a no, although marginal diminishing returns vary a lot amongst the gaming population.

IMO, I never enjoy a game more than I did the first time through when everything was fresh and new. Some games lend themselves to being replayed multiple times, but regardless of whatever little new quirks I discover, I don't think it's ever better the 2nd time around. Still can be a lot of fun though.

Disagree. You can personally challenge yourself to beat the game on the least amount of lives as possible making it more of a challenge. Back in the arcade days if you beat Double Dragon or Final Fight by credit feeding, you never thought "ok, thats enough".. People want to one life the game.

So far I've played through GOW probably 5 or 6 times. Although, I admit i'm probably in the minority.

1.) YES. Much better on the PS3.

2.) You do have to update to 3.01, the update is on the disc so you don't have to download anything.

GOW Collection is a much needed and much welcomed remaster. It looks gorgeous for what it is and plays beautifully.

Playing through this again has reminded me of the only two things I didn't like about the series (and they're minor).

1. The magic stuff (poseidon's rage/medusa's gaze/etc) is set up for L2 and the opening of boxes is R2.

How many people like myself have accidentlly triggered poseidon's rage when trying to open a box? lol I know it triggered Groo's rage. ha ha.

2. The button mashing aspect such as quickly tapping the "o" button to keep the Hydra from biting down on you. After a few tries, I just said to hell with it and let him clamp down and throw me.

Same with the minotaurs or whatever where you have to keep tapping the button to force your blade into him to get that bonus health. Unless the game MAKES me do that type of thing, I just kill them straight away.

Until I get a turbo controller, I'm not gonna bother with that aspect.

But yeah the games are sweet to have on the PS3, for sure.

I had to do a 2nd playthrough with Tyconius to get the max out all weapons trophy, its nearly impossible to do in a single run, you have to go to extreme measures. My first playthrough trying my best to get everything maxed out, i was short by 4k red orbs. And believe me, i tried.

I actually enjoyed God of War 2 more on Titan mode than I did on normal (and to a lesser extent God of War 1 on God mode as well). Both games become much more interesting (and challenging) when enemies are doing x4 damage. You really, really have to watch what you're doing.

Trying to do the "beat the game in under 5 hours" trophy, and right now I just used the muse keys and got all those bonus orbs and stuff, and my time is at 3:52 something.

How much more of the game do I have? I haven't played in so long. Am I on a good pace to get it under 5:00:00?

I do not think you have much farther to go.

I just finished killing the sirens outside the temple a little under 2 hours. I do not know if that is quick or not either.
