The Wall is planned but will take some time as James Guthrie as talked about the bad shape of the master tapes. Right now others that aren't too expensive are some Bob Dylan, Dire Straits Brothers In Arms, Elton John (though I personally don't like the sound of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, others enjoy the mix and many others Elton John are highly recommended but I don't have them yet)

Found Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory for a good price on Amazon used, so I went for it. I have low expectations, but even a moderate increase in fidelity would be welcomed. Reviews are pretty mixed (some hear a difference, others don't), but the general consensus is that the Multi-channel mix is worthless. Fine by me since my setup is stereo at the moment.

Yeah that album has terrible terrible production. They for sure wanted it deliberately low fi. Still I love the album. I just wouldn't bother with any high resolution release of it.

Yeah the multi-channel is rubbish.

I should actually list mine on Amazon used. Can't remember if I've already sold it or not to be honest.

The recent 2LP set trumped the SACD stereo and original CD, but there's always that awful problem with dynamic range when you put on Oasis.

How much did you pay for it?

Maybe I can sell mine to have enough to order Ommadawn SHM-SACD from Japan.

$36 for a "very good" copy. We'll see how good it is once it gets here. I've had issues in the past, but have either been able to get a reduced price or return it easily enough. On eBay they regularly go for $50+, so I took a risk.

I know the disc isn't going to be able to hold a candle to my Beck release, but as long as its an improvement over the CD, I'll be happy. Some releases, like Journey or Boston, most people stay stick with the CD because the SACD can sound worse at times. While I would love to have those discs, I'm not going to pay for something with less quality than a CD I already own.

Just ordered the SHM-SACD of Mike Oldfield's "Ommadawn" which was mastered directly to DSD from the original UK master tape.

From CD Japan it works out to around US$52~$55 - http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=UIGY-9085

Went to my local book store/movie rental/ and CD store. Pretty nice selection of CD's. One problem, they didn't know what a SACD was....and they told me this standing next to the record section and record players!!
Does anyone know if Led Zep's How The West Was Won is on SACD, IF it's available??

That was released on DVD-A. It is very pricey nowadays.

I got the Oasis disc over the weekend, and I definitely understand what the reviewers were talking about. It definitely has a better top end, but the lows really haven't improved over the CD. And there it definitely feels boxed in - like you just want it to explode in fidelity but every time you would expect that, it holds back. Not a huge improvement over the CD, but for $36 its a clean copy that will stay in my collection.

I'm working on a deal to get Billy Joel's The Stranger and 52nd Street for $100. I hope it happens. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I don't know if you were aware, but elusivedisc have these on a pre-order for $29.99. These are Mobil Fidelity though. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

These seem to be stereo-only hybrid sacd/cd. Is that correct? I'd be all over them for that price if they were the mch mix.

Correct, the forthcoming Mobile Fidelity SACDs will only be in stereo. The Sony SACDs will remain quite valuable because they contain surround mixes.

I see on that website that they are also releasing Dylan's Basement Tapes on sacd.

I've never been to that site before, are these more or less exclusive or will these find their way to amazon (or do we just not know yet).

Basement Tapes seems an odd choice for sacd, but I will buy it. Any other new Dylans coming out?
