P&R has actually done considerably worse then Outsourced so far in the Post Office slot.

It's somewhat true that P&R is doing worse than Outsourced at 9:30, but part of that may have to do with the fact that The Office's ratings have fallen considerably in 2011. I was comparing ratings from November to February and The Office's ratings were down about 0.3 in the 18-49 demo in February, which could have to do with a much worse lead-in from Perfect Couples versus 30 Rock. In turn Parks and Rec's February ratings have been about 0.2 worse than Outsourced's December ratings. Both Outsourced and Parks and Rec are produced by NBC, and I would think that NBC might think that Parks and Rec has better syndication potential and already has 46 episodes (at seasons end) so that could work in Parks and Rec's favor.

Wow, I'm very surprised. Parks and Rec getting renewed isn't shocking but I did not expect an early renewal for Community. Great news.

Maybe, just maybe the fact that Community got renewed means Chuck might as well...One can hope.

Hopefully! I think we get a 13 episode season of Chuck to close it out. Thinking the same thing for Fringe too.

I could live with that. I almost hopes they give it a full 24 though, just to wrap the whole series. Not to mention if they do that, I think it'll hit syndication at that point and that would make WB even more money in the long run since they can run it for years on other networks.

Chuck is a poor rated show now. No reason it'll rate well in the future on syndication.

No Putsourced renewal = dead for that show. I'll miss the cast, not the series.

Yeah, the shows that do well in syndication are sitcoms and one-hour cop/lawyer shows that (for the most part) don't have a running story line so you can pretty much sit down and watch a show at any time with little back story. Look at Lost and 24. Both were highly-rated shows, and both have very little life in syndication. I searched my listings and neither show is currently playing on any channel I have.

I agree that Outsourced is probably dead. I can't imagine NBC will stick with a three-hour comedy Thursday night next season, but I'd guess they'll go with another one hour block one day of the week. Still, they have some sitcom pilots that are very likely to be picked up and I'd be surprised if they kept Outsourced. If NBC does go with comedy on another night I'd guess the most likely times would be Monday at 8:00 or Wednesday at 8:00, so Chuck could be in a bit of trouble. I actually think Chuck would make sense Thursdays at 10:00. It has a similar vibe to the half-hour comedies and makes more sense than something like Law & Order LA.

It is not unprecedented for a low rated show to do well in syndication, though times have changed. I think they'd rather have the syndication kit than not, especially given that NBC doesn't really have big hits.

You know, to be fair the ratings system isn't exactly fair. The Neilsen ratings are a joke to me, because honsetly just because the chosen people who get rated don't watch it doesn't mean other people don't. Chuck has a big enough following thats saved the show twice, people obviously care about it.

Exactly. And as you said, they'd rather have the syndication kit then not. It would be stupid not to get it I think. Chuck is more popular then they think.

Default 'Fringe' Hits All Time Low: Cancellation Is Possible

From The Voice of TV:
Quote:
Fans of Fringe should be worried. Very worried. Last Friday's all-new Fringe episode hit a series low 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Even though Fox boss Kevin Reilly said he is 'Psyched' about the Fringe on Friday ratings, that was one month ago and at that time the ratings were far better than now. So if you are a fan of Fringe, let all your friends and family know they need to watch the show live on Friday nights, because if the ratings don’t improve it's not that unthinkable that Fox would cancel Fringe.

Default Detroit 1-8-7: The (Series?) Finale Airs on Sunday

From TV Series Finale:
Quote:
ABC has decided to run the season (likely series) finale of Detroit 1-8-7 this Sunday, March 20th, at 10pm. The freshman drama is airing on a special night because it was pre-empted by a 20/20 special featuring an interview with Charlie Sheen a couple weeks ago.

Detroit 1-8-7 is, of course, highly unlikely to return for season two. The TV series' ratings have been terrible and just about anything else the network has put on in its place has performed better. It's currently averaging a very disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.64 million viewers. That makes Detroit 1-8-7 the lowest-rated scripted series still on the network. Tuesday's installment registered just a 1.2 in the demo.

Until I hear otherwise, I still believe Fox is behind the show for another season.

Seeing as NBC does not make ANY money from sydication of Chuck or DVD sales, it's not important for them at all. The only money they get from Chuck is during the season.

But its important to WB, and if NBC cancels it they could always shop it someplace else. They're so close to syndication that I could almost see them doing it. It really would only need one more full season to get to it. They could honestly move it to CW and put it in Smallville's spot since it will be gone next season.

It's important to NBC in that the ratings on their other shows aren't great. The syndication proximity could have WB cutting a deal on the per episode cost.

NBC will be premiering The Paul Reiser Show on April 14 at 8:30, replacing Perfect Couples, which will have aired 11 of it's 13 episodes. No word if or when they will air the final 2 episodes. It's kind of odd that NBC has 3 comedies that still haven't aired with Reiser, as well as Love Bites and Friends With Benefits, neither of which have a premiere date. NBC clearly doesn't have high hopes for any of the shows though with 4 comedies already renewed for next year and multiple comedy pilots.
