Here's where I read it, it's fairly short: http://www.georgerrmartin.com/excerp...nds-of-winter/

Edit:
[Show spoiler]No offense, but your user name plus the fact that you're from Scotland always reminds me of this for some reason.

I know that a lot of people don't really care as much for Brienne's story line, but I love it.

Here's five pics from the upcoming episode, if anyone would like to check them out. They're not really that spoilery at all:

By the way, you always remind me of Lady Stoneheart, mredman. I can't wait for that!

I've seen a couple of shots from this episode, seems like theres a black armor Jaime gives her along with the sword. Other than gold, a royal decree and the sword I dont remember that being in the books.

I agree with you. I think Briennes chapters were enjoyably. Especially after septon Meribald joined her party.

Sorry, heavily buzzed right now, but later on doesn't Brienne end up with an old shield that used to belong to Duncan the Tall, or reminded her of an old shield from her childhood, implying her relation to him or something?

Thank you and good night.

Michelle Fairley's portrayal of utter loss and absolute despair at the end of The Red Wedding is some of the best acting of the entire series to me. Her return is one of my most anticipated things left to be revealed, of what's already been revealed to us book readers.

Agreed. I can even see the reveal of LS being Cat to the viewers will have even more youtube reaction videos than RW and PW

I want to read that Arya chapter, but I haven't finished ADWD yet

Also GRRM needs to quit teasing with chapters and just announce the thing already

Well no one knows how far along GRRM is. This chapter was apparently written long ago (Ive heard 2001 thrown about) and I think most of the material Martin has been reading/posting is also old material left out of ADWD. Anywho, one of the theories is the Arya chapter was written during the time Martin still planned to age up the characters 5 years, which would have made her around 16 instead of 11 or 12.

The problem isnt how old Williams is but how old the character she plays is. I believe she is currently 12 on the show so maybe make her 14 for that chapter. Even if HBO could legally do it it would be needless firestorm.

While the Brianne/Jamie storyline is one of my favorite parts of the books, I was much less interested in the Brienne quest for Sansa. Like much AFFC/ADWD it comes off as filler for the character while events in other parts of the story r developed. Show wise Im much more interested in Jamies travels especially as they seem to be pairing him with Bronn. The banter between those two should be hysterical.

I liked Brienne's journey, though I can see why some didn't. That said, I'm much more enamored with her character on the TV show (not to mention Podrick), so I'm really looking forward to it.

Show timeline is different, the wiki mentions that each season is considered a year, So she would be closer to 16-17 depending how they structure the seasons.

Hell, I know it's coming and I'm still giddy as a schoolgirl about seeing it happen.

I wouldn't read it, if you aren't caught up. It would really be no different than flipping to one of the chapters near the very end of ADWD.

As for your second statement, GRRM really has a lot on his plate right now.

They don't really seem to mention the age of the characters in the actual tv show as it progresses, so I'm not sure if it would really be a problem. Also, TWoW Arya chapter spoiler alert!!!>>>
[Show spoiler]All they would really have to do is have the guy hitting on her, then have her stab the dude. They didn't actually have sex or anything, so I just don't see it being that taboo. It does mention him tweaking her nipple, but just having him coming on to her, then getting stabbed would convey the point.

I didn't really get the sense that Bronn would be tagging along with Jaime, but that could be quite interesting.

Yes, Gwendoline Christie's portrayal of Brienne has really helped add to my interest in her character, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her and Pod teaming up together.

Well if they could make it age appropriate it would solve a lot of problems.

Arya - they already get away with lots of stuff with the character and it's hard to figure which way they will jump. They got rid of her killing the guard leaving Haranhall but then added her knifing the guy after the red wedding. Really hard to figure what limits they have set for the character because of her age.

Bronn - well, as he wont be going with Tyrion they either need to pair him with a new character or write him out. Teaching Jamie the sword again works for me as Bronn is much interesting than Ser Illyan Payne.

I actually like Pod better in the books so that's another negative for me. I think the charm of Pod/Brienne is tied to him being a young boy, at least for me.

The only issue that I have in regard to the show-only viewers is that they will think that death is somehow not final, and ANYONE can be brought back from the dead. Ergo, the finality of death as we know it in real life is somewhat cheapened.
