Look at IPTV. Last I checked, Microsoft platforms have a 2:1 advantage in deployments over Linux w/Java platforms.

And where is OCAP? We're still stuck with lousy Motorolla and Scientfic Atlanta boxes here in Canada.

Guys,

Who is this Lotus guy? He sounds strangely like Amir:

http://www.avrevforum.com/showthread...=7324#post7324

He's obviously an insider from the HD DVD camp... his FUD spin is strategically mixed with real insider data similar to the way Amir would "work the numbers". One curious thing though, he mentions that it was *MS* who gave the money for the Paramount/Dreamworks deal. He also states in another thread that *** Microsft is offering double what Sony has offered Warner in a bidding war to win exclusive format support ***. I think he spins FUD to push a pro-HD DVD agenda, but I also think he's a real insider with some definite knowledge of the facts... even if he sometimes chooses to spin them in a misleading way.

Check this guy out in that link and see what you think.

Week old news just published....

I heard about the Sony offer on Tuesday and on Wednesday heard that MS will be doubling it.

If Business Week had been looking the week before they'd have printed the opposite thing. I said last week that Warner was officially for sale.

They are and it's an auction. Sony made a counter bid, and now MS is.

If he is telling the truth, and MS should pay off WB, my interest in HDM will stall.

That being said, while I'm sure that MS is making WB offers, I very seriously doubt his Disney/Fox claims. It seems to be somewhat ridiculous (and I felt your statement echoed my thoughts on his remark).

While I doubt they'd be able to say anything about it, I'd love to hear the Insiders' thoughts on the subject if you wouldn't mind asking their opinion?

Also, it would seem somewhat strange that Warner Bros. chose to turn down Microsoft's first offer months back, only to be "up for auction" unless they felt they could get more money...

I'm not familiar enought with IPTV or OCAP but with having itself included in so many areas, there will always some areas where Microsoft is dominant.

I was refering mainly to Microsoft's "history" vs. Sun Microsystems and how Microsoft is almost completely cut out of Blu-ray (which is on the threshold of being the next hd media standard) because of the implementation of Java at the expense of HDi.

I've read some of the posts over there, and I don't think it is Amir. The posts don't "read" like Amir. That being said, I wonder if someone were to do a correlation of the timing of the posts over there vs. timing of posts at AVS would the posting times correlate/match?!?!?!?

Based on what I read, I don't think it's an "obvious" insider.

I can go on a web message board and state "Oh, Lotus @ AVREV has old news. Sony just doubled MS's offer." See, anyone can do it. One thing that strikes me as an easy way to spot a fraud is that the person seems to equate the BDA to Sony. That's a typical fanboy slip up right there, especially since I believe some well placed folks here have alluded that Panasonic might be the one to foot any checks for BD exclusivity. Finally, as much as we all think Amir is a tool and an idiot, I have yet to ever see him discuss private business negotiations/matters in such blunt terms, and I don't think even he is stupid enough to do such a thing.

More FUD from an internet tool with too much time on this hands. That's just my $0.02.

I very much doubt Warner is for sale, they could have gone when Paramount did, when incidently they did have Nickerson and co who supported HD-DVD.

Going HD-DVD exclusive would kill both formats and leave the market to DVD, and eventually Micorsosft controlled downloads.

Add a +1 on that for me as well. He states he comes from a family with 50 years experience selling and repairing televisions and that he had worked at a CE manufaturer for a while. Also he refers to his programer contact who appears to be his wife as she appears to have programming experience with the 360 and some familiarity with the PS3.

His posts don't have the same "agenda" to them as Amir's though he does use a lot of the same HD-DVD FUD. IMO this is just another misguided red-ant but not an insider.

If this guy was an HD-DVD Insider, he would be posting on AVS, not on that website.

In my opinion if Warner wanted money they would just stay as they are and sit back and collect the checks every week.
If Warner makes a move it is because they want to cement a stake in shaping the future and are thinking long term market share.

The HD DVD player sale data from 4Q is not necessarily a reliable indicator of new HD DVD customers; in that, it is likely that many in the HD DVD installed base took advantage of the accompanying instant software promotion to expand their libraries and also to replace their faulty first generation HD DVD players.

What has to be done, though I've said this over and over. Educate more consumers about making the right choice for themselves and everyone as a whole.

I can't get any HDM or technology yet, and probably not for a while, but for those who can, would be very well off with Blu-ray.

I think this thread is due for a little clean up.
I am glad as hell that we have the insiders we do here to spread some xmas cheer as it were, but the best thing that we can do is not ride them about it and let things play out.
They will tell us anything anytime that they can, but this is their livelihood that we are dealing with here and we need to respect that.
We have a thread to discuss the rumor that alot of this conversation can move into.
