I've watched it about 5 or 6 times on bluray so far & haven't gotten tired of it yet but you may feel differently about it, rent before you buy it either way.

I got the 3D version since it came with a 2D BD & a digital code. Have no real use for 3D discs but with Marvel films now its the only way to get a digital copy along with a 2D BD disc sadly.

Technically by buying codes from others you aren't really supporting digital sales. Codes buying/selling/trading is technically frowned on by DMA and DMR's terms and conditions (and all code sheets say "Not for Sale or Transfer"). But it's allowed by this forum, making it a grey area. Regardless, you're definitely not supporting physical media sales by buying digital codes or actual digital purchases. Certainly higher sales of Blu-ray releases encourages studios to continue releasing them in the best format and not defer to DVD and digital only. Does the blu ray have anything extra over the iTunes copy? |

Overall it's really no contest. iTunes movies are decent quality, but the leap between that and Blu-ray should be pretty noticeable, especially on a 60'' screen. |

While its unlikely Disney will be able to detect and ban those who uses codes without buying the BD or sell/trade their codes (unless you reportedly put your Disney account email address out there publicly for code transactions), it's definitely as morally gray as borrowing UV eligible DVDs (or BDs) from the library or friends and then using Vudu or Flixster D2D to buy a HD digital copy at a reduced price. Not trying to judge others here and I understand it's not as clean cut as piracy. Granted, piracy is definitely reprehensible, and I was annoyed every time a former coworker would dismiss me and others for buying or renting movies by saying who don't you download it for free (since he would download movies from the Pirate Bay). Anyway, as for the BD vs. iTunes debate, the difference is obviously better picture and audio quality, plus you really own it rather than having a "lifetime license." If those things matter to you get the BD, if not get the iTunes. I find it hard to believe you don't see the picture benefits of blu-ray on a 60" screen, but I ain't gonna tell you how to live. ![]() |

I would prefer to purchase blu rays but I'm not really sure I get enough value out of a movie, as I only watch a film on average about every 6 months. |

Finally got around to watching this. Keep in mind, I never gave two fu**s about Ant-Man growing up. I always thought he was a lame superhero from Marvel. His awful costumes didn't help either. I mainly watched this for Michael Douglas.
Well, I got to be honest with you. This movie was surprisingly good. Granted, it felt like Iron Man mixed with Mission Impossible, but I was entertaining by what they were able to do onscreen with the special effects from his point of view when he was tiny to the fight scenes. Shrinking size makes Ant-Man a formidable opponent. The movie version won me over on him. One of my favorite scenes was seeing young Michael Douglas. I was in awe. CONS: 1.) I couldn't take Yellowjacket seriously because they tried too hard on making you want to hate him. I felt like I was watching Tobey Maguire play Lex Luthor. 2.) Quote:
That was funny in the trailer. I hated how they changed stuff to sh** in the actual film. 3.) Both Blu-Ray covers suck. I wish they used the one of him flying on the ant. That was a great poster! Last edited by Agent Bond; 12-28-2015 at 08:18 AM. |

An easy way to explain the code is like movies that come with blu ray and dvd. There is nothing illegal about selling the dvd after buying the combo pack. After the sale is made, you fully own that disc; it is up to you what you do with that disc. Now the contents on that disc are another matter, those are owned by the studio, you don't have permission to do anything with the content except play it for private use. The license for that content isn't tied to you, the purchaser, but the disc itself. Once you sell the disc, you no longer have any right or access to that content, but the studio can't say no you can't sell your disc. Take what I wrote above, and replace disc with digital code. The T&C of the digital platform redeeming the code can state they reserve the right to nullify etc. etc., but in a legal sense there is not much Studios can do, nor do they care enough because it's a very small piece of the pie (they have more important issues to focus on like combating piracy) |
