Once again, it's still a vague rubber stamp. We already knew the filmmakers added new color grading and approved the disc, Bill said that a week ago. Now we know WB is not going to change anything. I still don't know whether the green tint was added specifically or is just there for some reason, like the DP-approved jaggies on the Braveheart disc.
Agreed and either way its ugly IMO. Curious to see how ugly though with my own eyes on my own gear.

On a positive note........at least the audio will rock!

I wish the tint was pink. I wonder what everyone would say then.

Well I will be getting my set at 10 am and watching in glory. It just makes it so much nicer that Bill hunt and RAH got reports from WB that this was intent

Green tint or no, the extended version looks MILES better than the regular version (top picture). In that scene of the regular version, everything is glowing orange the extended looks much more real. And it may be the same with the other shots, like the boat shot someone quoted a few pages back, the regular looks more vivid, but that may not be natural. The extended version looks much more natural, imo.

After reading some of the stuff here, I was worried, but after seeing these shots, I'm just as pumped to get my extended blu-rays tommorow as when I first heard of them.
This is the funny part about this whole thing. People are *****ing because of the green but completely ignoring the fact the original color grading was overloaded with reds, oranges, and pinks. Hell, there is a comparrison in this very thread where sauromons cloak was pink tinted and people are fussing because now it has a SLIGHT green tint. I guess pink is good and green is bad. At this point i just want WB to come out flat out say there will be no recall.

If its intentional, as everyone has said all along, then how is it a denial? They are stating a truth. That's not dealing with the issue because there is NO issue. Problem solved. No replacement discs are needed because its 100% as it should be.

I don't see any green tint whatsoever in those shots, it just looks that way because the original is bright friggin orange. After reading some of the stuff here, I was worried, but after seeing these shots, I'm just as pumped to get my extended blu-rays tommorow as when I first heard of them.
The reason it's less orange is because of the green tint. Green/aqua is complementary to orange, look:

also, this is one scene from one movie out of a total of three movies. It is in no way a representation of how the set will look.

The original tint was a madhouse of pinks oranges and reds. No one said a thing. Double standards are beautiful arent they?

So the TE BD and the TE/EE DVD's of FOTR were all messed up because they were missing the green? Did they intentionally remove it for those releases for some reason (I'd like to know)?

Those looked intenional. This green does not. The scene in rivendel looked orange because the scene took place at sunset.

Even if Jackson personally registered on this forum stating himself he intended it to be this way, some of you would still not believe him! You would be saying Warner is forcing him to lie, or that he is trying to cover for them, or that it's not really him. Admit it. You know who you are! lol

Very serious comment. I've grown to love Mr. McKenzie, as well as the brilliance of Mr. Jackson toward his creation.

Just got my set from Amazon. I gotta say, it's GORGEOUS. The box doesn't have any worthless crap on it and the 3 black (drool) blu cases look so awesome. WB really outdid themselves in listening to our packaging complaints about older movies. This is how box sets should look. Actual blu (black) cases in a sharp looking cleanly designed box.

Won't be watching them until Saturday (11 hour marathon FTW)

lol............IF that happened, I could certainly put this to rest at that point. It certainly would not change my opinion of the green being ugly, but I could put it to rest as far as intentional or mistake.

As bummed as I am about FOTG from a color standpoint, I have to say I am still excited from an audio point of view. I cant wait to hear these again in my HT and in lossless to boot! I am guessing the vast majority of us will agree on the audio even if we cant agree on the video. The audio is something we all should be able to have a nice big high 5 over

yep me to i always said it was intentional. And after hearing about it from the guy over at imdb that it looked like it does on the EE blu rays in the theaters and the trailer at the official site with the tint as well. There was no question anymore

Some hate it. Some like it. Its the way it is and it will not be changed

.

I probably need to rewatch the TE before watching the EE. Since I have not since them since they have been in theaters.

I wonder if the audio will be much different than the TE. I know the TE is 5.1 ES Matrix instead of 6.1 Discreet, but I wonder if it is much different. The audio on the TE is not bad at all, I'm just curious if the EE will be a big jump in quality.

There is no problem and nothing to deal with and no denial mode. Because this is how Jackson want them to look.It was intentional Warner can do nothing about it and neither can we
