I hope they don't drop movies from the B2G1 sales since they won't be having many in stores.

VHS to DVD was like cassette to CD. People know what they are. And DVDs made the mass-purchasing of movies and TV shows big business. They won't necessarily know what Blu-ray and 4K UHD are.
One time when I was shipping something out media mail at the post office, when the cashier asked what I was sending, I said Blu-rays and she just completely shut down unsure how to comprehend that. Then I said DVDs and she was back to normal. |

Yeah, most people I know who aren't into this refer to movies on disk as DVDs even if they are holding a Blu Ray or 4K in their hands. DVD is just used by many normies as a catch all term films and shows on disk whether it's DVD,Blu Ray or 4k.My father when he wants to borrow a film from me calls it a DVD even though it's a Blu Ray disk and Blu Ray player he's using and he knows the difference between the formats too but just calls them all DVDs..

I was able to resolve it through one chat section, but I had to explain and show the math for the agent to understand. And even then, I'm not sure if they did and only gave me the refund out of courtesy. The problem seems to be that nothing on my order page reflects the price drop besides the note of a partial refund. I had no way to prove that the item dropped to $26.49 before shipping. The site detects the price drop but doesn't properly apply it to the order. There's another pre-order item that I was supposed to receive a $1.xx refund for but didn't, but I'm not going to harass them over it. I just wish they'd fix this issue. |

I thought their standard protocol for the BOGO sales was if the pre-discount price dropped by release it didn’t matter because your after discount price was already lower than that? At least that’s what I was told before when asking about a price adjustment in that situation. Granted this was maybe a year or two ago, maybe things have changed.

^ Thanks for pointing out the partial refund status.
I was resigned to being charged the initial amount of the PO. It's great to know that won't be the case. I just checked my Kong order, which was part of an 8 disc order. All the rest were immediately shipped in early February. The order details show a partial refund of $3.50, and there is a corresponding charge of $16.75 - which was exactly the average net cost of the 8 films in the order (some of which were staggered in original price from $22.99- $29.99. The odd thing to me is that the charge is noted as being on the day it was delivered. That appears to be the case with another pre-order that dropped before it shipped. The partial refund is noted and what seems to be the now discounted charge noted on the day it was delivered. I'd expected that the charges would be when they ship, not get delivered. If I have one big complaint with Target, it's that they're billing seems to be purposefully opaque. Would it kill them to note the actual product next to each charge? Or at least a reference to the actual order number? That shouldn't be a lot to ask in 2024. It's almost like they want to obfuscate as much as possible. |

This is just another awkward, clumsy step by another old retailer into the world of a two-universe sales system where 60% of their shit is online only and the other 40% is select brands of the most popular things (depending on which brand pays the most for placement).
They just can't admit all that because it sounds weird so every so often they have to announce another kind of shit that is moving to the 60% in favor of more Taylor Swift merch. But hey who would have thought 20 years ago that vinyl records would outlast dvds in the 40% part. |

The smaller Target stores already have very small selections and no CDs either.

People really have a hard time believing general consumers don't care for physical media -- they don't give two sh#ts about blurays, dvds, game carts and cds, either. These don't drive store traffic and bring in (at best) marginal profits.
We here are a niche bunch ... and that's fine. But let's not be delusional about why retailers are dropping physical media from stores. At least Target still has a decent selection online -- we all know that it too will come to an end eventually. Let's all just try to enjoy it while it lasts ... ![]() Last edited by Captain N; 04-20-2024 at 01:31 PM. |

According to that invoice page, the price drop wasn't reflected after all. Will have to go though all the orders this year and make notes of whats what now. That will still leave a lot of homework going through the RedCard (Circle, whatever) billing and trying to match up charge amounts to the correct order. That was really my point on the earlier post. It would be so much easier if they would simply identify each charge by it's order number (if online) as well as store location (which they already do). Looks like I will have to follow you guys and call up to have these adjusted- which further hammers my point of their billing seeming to be purposefully opaque to do things like mask these stated, but unimplemented, price adjustments. |

If "general consumer" was THE gauge not just for home entertainment, but for anything manufactured, we wouldn't have very many choices regardless of category, even food. The truth is that the current status quo is very sustainable, for as long as it has the studios blessing. In fact, all it could take is a little advertising from Hollywood to see collectible media soar again. But that still doesn't seem likely. Studios aren't about to undermine the past 15 years of desperately trying to convince consumers that digital is THE future, even when their holy grail still seems a bottomless pit, financially and collectible media continues to prove itself very profitable even at current pricing, which is still well short of what truly "niche" pricing was before the advent of DVD in 1997. Without actually doing the math, I suspect after calculating inflation, they'd have to be charging roughly $200 per UHD, maybe even per BD, IF such were actually selling in genuinely "niche" numbers. Some people here have felt the need to call BD "niche" even when bigger titles were outselling their DVD counterparts over ten years ago, as if buying something they can label as "niche" somehow enhances their investment or makes them feel more special. Unless studios pull the proverbial rug out from under our feet, forcing their narrative in a more obvious and controversial manner, as they become less and less able to continue to finance some long-term plan of systemic market manipulation, we could even see further increase in collectible market-share even with the dearth of promotion discs have received from the studios over the past 15 years or so. Bill Hunt seems optimistic studios are starting to "see the light", but I can't see some risking compromising their streaming agenda considering how many billions they've sacrificed. Realistically, barring some unforeseeable change of heart in the powers that be, we'll see prices continue to become more and more niche, as already seems apparent of more premium formats, albeit less because of the increased production cost associated with less demand and more because of dwindling interest in price competition and promotion by mass merchandisers and the soulless corporations that bought out the biggest specialty etailers long ago, further pushing what remains of the budget market toward streaming as the only affordable option left, especially if cinema tickets should spike as has long been forecast. But that bears further qualifying too, as the budget market was long over-represented by a robust rental market once rental surplus was loosed on the market, that market is the one that's most effectively been transitioned to streaming, which has always been the "general consumer" who simply seeks the very cheapest, most convenient route, rarely realizing when they're actually paying more in the long-run. Still, notions of just "enjoying it while it lasts" is self-defeating and promoting of the wrong propaganda IMHO. |

Was hoping more books would have been included in their 30% off deal this week. Very slim selection. Probably not going to buy enough for my 2 target circle offers now
Anyone know if a preorder ships out during the tome of a bonus if it counts towards the total? This would have been an item I preordered weeks ago but releases on April 23rd. |
