[Show spoiler]did you miss the part where lucious fox is back at wayne enterprise and he asks if there was anything that couldve been done to fix the autopilot, and the mechanics respond it was already fixed by bruce wayne

I'm going to be re-watching this in the next couple of days (just revisited the first two movies) and will take a closer look.

[Show spoiler]Sure. But that doesn't mean he survived. How did he escape and manage to get outside the blast radius in that short amount of time?? And why was Alfred crying his heart out on Bruce's grave if he knew he was alive all this time?? Sorry, but I still find the ending very ambiguous!

[Show spoiler]Do ya know what AUTO PILOT means? He wasn't in the blast radius of the nuke when it detonated because the hovercraft was on autopilot when it flew away from land. There is nothing ambiguous about the ending.

[Show spoiler]Countdown from the shot of batman inside the bat to the time the nuke detonated. That was not enough time for batman to eject out of the bat and escape from the blast radius.

[Show spoiler]I'd like to think Bruce fixed the auto pilot, but not the little known faulty timer on the bomb.

Guys, this isn't Inception. There's no ambiguity to the ending, at least in my opinion. Bruce is alive. That's it. I mean, if you want think it's really ambiguous, don't let me stop you, but this isn't Nolan trying to pull the rug out from under you. It's pretty straightforward.

[Show spoiler]Or maybe Batman finally got Superman powers and was able to fly away from the blast radius at a lightning speed.

[Show spoiler]Yeah, they seemed to have hinted that to us when it was revealed that the autopilot was fixed. But what's questionable was HOW Bruce survived. Again, the scene went like this.... there was a shot of Batman inside the Bat, then few seconds later, the nuke detonates. How was Batman able to eject and escape the blast radius within those few seconds??? Again, unless he has Superman powers, I don't see how that was possible.

I think the simple answer is, because he's BATMAN. I'm not trying to be funny or anything.

Because (supposedly) the shot(s) of Batman piloting the inside of the Bat are from within some smaller escape pod thing, I guess similar to how the Batpod was within the Tumbler in Dark Knight. The theory I've read and like to believe (cuz it makes the movie just slightly less dumb) is that the initial explosion that happens as the Bat flies by/over the bridge was to conceal the deployment of this escape pod, so when the plane keeps flying out to sea, it's fully on autopilot and Batman is nowhere near it.

I don't think the ending is ambiguous, either: Bruce is really alive, Selena is really with him, Alfred really sees them, and the whole world pretends not to notice that this billionaire playboy who is supposedly dead just popped up in Florence...

The scene about the pearls missing from the estate's manifest is rendered completely and hilariously unnecessary if you subscribe to any "Bruce is dead" theories.

Again: even if Nolan wanted to kill the character DC historically wouldn't allow it, and as such there's really no point in seriously debating the issue. You can interpret it any way you want but you aren't going to find any validation from the people who made the movie in this instance.

[Show spoiler]Either a time cut or he's actually sitting in some kind of escape pod. Either way who cares? Seems like nitpicking to the extreme, honestly.

I think all of the nitpicking is stemmed from the fact that no IMAX movie can run longer than 3 hours including previews, and fans do know that there's deleted scenes. Still I think the editing is feverishly fast in Rises b/c of the time constraints.
