My ET steelbook has spots of rust on the opening edges, even though it's never been near any moisture.
Baking soda and steel wool usually buffs rust away, or you can try vinegar since it reacts with rust (but that would get in the crevices and be a pain to get out).

I checked my ET copy to see if there was a defect in the release, but I didn't see anything.

Default Claim from Damage from US Customs and Border Patrol

Have a question for users of the site. Have any of you had a package inspected from US Customs and Border Patrol and had your Steelbooks exceptionally damaged?

I had a shipment of Steelbooks that were inspected by USCBP and they actually sliced open the some of Blurays and in one case sliced through the slipcase. To very collectable copies of my Steelbooks are ruined - anyone else have this problem? Work through to a resolution? Make a claim?

What kind of glue would be best to fix a o-ring kimchi sleeve. I have two kimch steels, Terminator Salvation and The Fifth Element, that are starting to open up. Thanks J.

Default Replacement STB2GT1 Disc Flap?

I am looking to get a replacement disc flap, part # STB2GT1, for my Rogue One Steelbook since when I opened my copy one of the hubs had a tab broken/missing and the disc was loose and doesn't stay on very well.

The first issue is Best Buy was already sold out of these when I picked up my pre-order. But the only thing wrong is the plastic disc flap that can be easily changed out. I sent an email to Steelbook to see about getting a replacement STB2GT1. The first person who emailed me back seemed very willing to help and that it would be something easy to take care of - didn't say anything about it not being able to be solved. He just wanted to know where I live to know where to direct my email. It was sent to the North American offices in Canada and their response was like hitting a wall.

First they said it is the retailer's issue. (I just want a replacement part - not a completely new one. Plus if the retailer just opens the box and gives it to a customer and the inside is messed up, that in my mind is a retailer issue, whether shipping or manufacturing since I couldn't see a broken piece loose inside. That makes me wonder if it was broken from the get-go.) Then they said they don't have any parts on hand and no communication with their manufacturer.

Here is their response exactly: "Unfortunately, if there was damage to your SteelBook it is something that will need to be addressed with the retailer for replacement. Our office in Canada does not stock replacement inserts and I don’t have access to any out of our manufacturing partner in Ohio."

Has anyone else had experience with this? I imagine it is a common issue and I am baffled as to why it is apparently a big deal to buy a small piece of plastic - I'm not even asking for it free - I'd be willing to buy it. I just want my discs to be stored correctly/safely without potential for damage.

Oh this just gets better. They responded and seem just as unhelpful:

"I’m simply not in a position to be able to offer a replacement insert, either through our office or through our facility in the States. If you do have a damaged product from a retailer, they would likely honor the defective item with a replacement. Unless they are sold out in all stores across the country, that would have been my best suggestion.
We don’t stock replacement parts. We make the number requested by studios/retail and that is what goes into the market."

What would have been their "best suggestion" isn't an option since Best Buy is completely sold out of these. I'm still baffled by the fact that the first responder seemed super willing to help and like it would be something they could take care of for me. This was what the first email said: "It is a very frustrating problem and I will try to see if I can help, but first I need to know where in the world you come from, so I can forward the mail to the correct person."

Plus this isn't a custom package like say the Target exclusive Rogue One. It is a disc flap used in many of their multi-disc steelbooks - including some recent ones that come to mind like Daredevil Season 1, Agent Carter Season 2 and Jessica Jones Season 1.

Sorry they're being top notch jackasses, but at this point it might be easier to find a cheap used DVD steelbook or such on ebay and just swap it that way. I don't have any steelbooks with flaps, but they may even be standard sized that other flap cases could swap with them (like a metalpak, one of which I do have in that configuration).

What is a "one click" steelbook? I've tried googling, and it's just pages and pages of foreign steelbooks that are "one-click" with no description of what that actually means.

One click normally just refers to a release that has multiple options (i.e full slip A, full slip B, lenticular slip) and the "one click" nets you all 3 in one package. In a lot of cases now you even get some kind of bonus (some kind of toy, a box to put all three in) for getting the one click option.

Example

What are the steel books that have the 4K version of the film, and not the Blu-ray version? Thanks in advance.

To my knowledge, every 4K UHD Steelbook released thus far has also included the standard Blu-ray Disc.

Taking the sides off is easy they just pop off, The spine is glued or taped into place. I've never removed one. But there are guides in the custom insert thread on the board somewhere.

Getting a new plastic inlay is hard. A cheap damaged steelbook is your only option as they do not sell then. Cannot find them on eBay either

Okay, probably the most stupid question a steelbook collector has ever heard, but here goes:

I just discovered the KimchiDVD Exclusive Steelbooks en Blufans Steelbooks.

But what is the big difference between them? I feel a lot of the art is somewhat the same, but isn't KimchiDVD a lot cheaper? Why is this? Is the quality of the Blufans Steelbooks better or...?

From what I have bought the quality is just about the same. As far as pricing goes, I could be wrong but my guess would be that KIMCHI mainly uses WWA (worldwide artwork) artwork on their steelbooks with custom slips whereas Blufans mainly has WEA (world exclusive artwork) artwork on their steelbooks with custom slips.

I would think it costs Blufans a little but more to get the WEA artwork which in turn bumps the price up a bit.

Well, I found this link to a German website: http://www.vinylscratch.de/article/3...-_Blu-ray.html

Definitely looks like a stickerbook. It says that its an import. The Netherlands had many stickerbooks at one time, so its possibly one of those. Don't know for sure though.

Looking for plastic covers to protect my steelbook collection. Any recommendations/links to what works best for this? Pictures would be helpful as well if you have them. I have about 120 steels so im looking for something i can buy in bulk. Thanks guys.

I buy plastic wraps from Steelbook Central and I find they work perfectly. They stand up to being opened again and again up to a certain amount of times

I've got some older steelbook bags I brought elsewhere and also the ones they sold previously ages ago, which weren't as good quality, but I only replace those where necessary as I have quite a few of those in use. I also use them to protect slipcovers

They are very cost effective. They also sell steelbook slipcovers which I'd like to use instead as it's easier to get the steelbook out, but as I have around 1300 steelbooks (including DVD ones) it'd be quite expensive to buy the quantity required

Other places do sell these and you can get them on eBay but different sellers have different thickness wraps and I prefer the ones that are a little bit stronger. Also on their website they offer reward points so a chance to make some savings down the line

They also sell steelbook stands and larger wraps you can use for digibooks and slipboxes
