Love that they're taking a chance with the property to do a really creative and inspired movie, and allowed the filmmakers to bring a vision to the big screen.

It could have been a quick and generic way to make some easy money by recycling and throwing the same ol' used up tropes at a bunch of kids and the unfortunate parents who had to take them to see the movie, and instead they went with something much more interesting and exciting... that CAN ALSO be enjoyed by Kids.

Kids go see PG-13 superhero movies all the time without someone going "so much for family friendly, blah." Why is it suddenly a problem here? It's not.

Most families consider G, PG and PG-13 the same rating these days. I mean, half the MCU PG-13s are really PG films goosed to PG-13 to avoid the "uncool movie for little kids" label by 9-year-olds.

When was the last time you saw a 13-year old girl playing with a dolly?

Barbie was always totally for the kids.

I think this movie (as could be guessed from the trailer) is a "hip" take made by people who have no interest in making a genuine family picture.

Are you serious? There are grown a-- adults who buy dolls and probably play with them too. It's a huge market. And these dolls cost more than most "kids dolls".

The Transformers and G.I. Joe movies are PG-13, as well.

Ultimately though Hollywood seemed like they agreed with her as the director/writer of the film she backed out of was replaced.

The production design, props and costumes are amazing. This will definitely get some Oscar nominations.

That's truly sad.

Then the same criticism can be levelled at those, although American society has always been more accepting of action violence.

It is really sad, though. We're on a site that celebrates buying plastic discs to watch movies on. Some of which can cost hundreds of dollars. And the equipment to play them on is even more expensive. I'm sure there are people who think what we do is sad. Think about that.

Yeah, it's called collecting and pretty much everyone does it in some form or another. There's nothing sad about having a (harmless) hobby.

You guys are seriously comparing owning a disc collection to adults playing with dolls?
