Probably not exclusively, no. However, there are certainly people who want both discs and there are people who don't have a 4K set-up yet, but are buying the UHD version to future-proof their collections and want to watch the movie on BD in the meantime. The included BD should still be made as well as possible within the limits of that format.

Some of us have a second HD TV in another room or in another home, or have a 4K TV and a HD projector set up in the same room, like me.
I always watch on my Oled 4K TV, but then later on I might want to watch again on my Sony projector to get that 'big screen' cinema feel, and that is when the bluray disc comes handy

My favorite part is when people complain about the lack of 4K remastered blu ray when they purchase a 4K disc.
Wife: "Honey, what are we going to watch tonight?
Me: "I was thinking about watching the trailer of that last movie we got?"
Wife: "Just the trailer?"
Me: "Yes, just the trailer"
Wife: "That sounds swell!"

Default I like the trailers on the disc.

And I also like bonus features. If it isn't included, I won't revolt, but my contention has always been why not include the trailers. For those who like it, have at it, for those who don't, skip it. Doesn't hurt anything.

Obviously, most trailers are available online but unfortunately in highly compressed encodes. Also, having the trailers on disc means a bigger chance of getting 5.1 mixes instead of stereo.
I've seen those Star Wars trailers so many times and surprise, not included sadly on the Disney release of Force Awakens. Would have been cool to have them included.

Is there already a new Blade Runner edition coming in December?

What other Nolan movies?

Thanks

Blade Runner 2049 might have an early release in December, and Interstellar + The Dark knight trilogy are getting released in 4K around then too. Inception and the Prestige have also shown up but might not be coming at the same time, at least in the US.

Wow, a December release for 2049?! That would only be about a 2-month difference. Sounds good to me!

Instellar would probably be an amazing disc, but I wasn't too fond of the movie. I need to re-watch Inception again before deciding to upgrade. Definitely in for the Batman movies in 4k though!

Thanks

I have my game face on for the UHD HDR TrueHD Atmos versions of both Blade Runner 2049 and Interstellar. I plan to buy both the minute they become available. Dunkirk is on my Day One Buy list, too.

I have now seen Interstellar several times and it has grown on me. I expect that the UHD HDR Atmos treatment will make it even more enjoyable.

I may need to watch Interstellar again as well.

Dunkirk will no doubt be day 1 for me too (steelbook would make it that much sweeter)!

I wouldn't expect Atmos on any of these Nolan 4K titles unless something's changed in Nolan's noggin.

Yeah, that seems to be the case but because Nolan finally gave in and accepted UHD HDR, I keep hoping that he will allow Atmos too. Not holding my breath, though.

There's nothing to "give in to" with UHD and HDR. Both of those technologies are just now finally allowing us to see films in (mostly) unmolested quality in our homes. Atmos on the other hand I'm 99% sure Nolan will say no to. The original audio mixes on his films are 5.1, and that's how they should stay.
