Can we pretend we're still a UK colony just to get the Jurassic 4k steel books shipped to the US by Zoom?

Default Just my opinion Dr. Grant

For me, those steebooks just aren’t that great. I’m not a fan of the way the logos look. If it was the original logo, especially for part 1, I’d be all over those. But I’ll stick with the set for now unless something else comes along. I just want the discs at this point. Assuming they are actually worthwhile.

Gimme some of deez for individual packaging:

[Show spoiler]

[Show spoiler]

And then the Spino logo for part 3...THAT would make me ooze with joy and excitement from every part of my body in terms of packaging.

Zoom is the trading name of Universal UK. In other words, Zoom are Universal.

Yeah, no one knows quite what is happening with the UK Jurassic 4K releases. Only Zoom have any preorders up and only for steelbooks. That might be all we get. Might not.

UK were last to get pre order for Dark Knight UHD release also.
It was up in Germany and France for weeks before UK.

Of course they will...they just wanted to make sure that the more expensive steels sold thru first, it's not quite as much of an incentive to buy them when you can get a regular boxset for literally half the price or maybe even less. I can't see the 4-film set being any more expensive than £49.99.

(Sorry, forgot about this response until just now). As I recall, it was a little card that came as part of the VHS cover but it was removable. I might be wrong. My old VHS copy doesn't have it anymore.

As far as the 4K transfers having been "scanned from the original negative" (singular), does anyone think they might just be trumpeting the scan that was performed on the first film several years ago? Also, I'm fully aware that the first film's new color timing has been controversial, but some have hinted that the sequels are also a bit off. Anyone else think so?

Probably, seems wasteful to do a new one when they already have a 4K scan. It's already been a number of years since then, but we're talking about Universal here, the ones who've been holding on to the same ancient HD master of The Big Lebowski for 15 years (let's just hope the UHD finally brings something new to the table.)

As for the colors I would be fine with the rusty grade of the 3D version as long the grain was untouched, but if a 2D master was never prepared maybe they'll start from scratch for the HDR version.

Yeah. I'm honestly surprised they're remastering the sequels at all (and as some have said, that tweet isn't exactly confirmation from the studio itself). As far as Universal and their masters, I we can thank UHD for being such a leap forward that older masters are beginning to not cut it anymore (but of course that won't stop them from trying, I'm sure). I wish they would remaster Tremors; that film looks quite bad these days.

My guess is they will reuse the raw 4K scan of the first movie from several years ago (I mean, why not?) and just create a new master from it with proper color timing, grain structure in place (hopefully!), etc.

Not sure how II and III were sourced from the BD but it might be a situation they have no choice but to do new scans or it ends up like Bourne and maybe they got too much backlash on that. Of course, anything is possible with studios.

Regarding Mummy II that was discussed about before. No doubt it's an improvement over the BD, but I was not that impressed it. It didn't meet my 'happy' threshold for a UHD BD catalog title. I'm not saying it looked poor, but it's not what I want from the format with a 35mm sourced title.
