If the Euro discs really do have the OG audio then I'll sell the American ones and get those, providing that StudioCanal haven't borked the encodes.

So once again these new remasters on the "ultimate format" include only half-baked 5.1 remixes and not the original audio tracks?

What is wrong with these companies? No, really - what's wrong with them? Do they hate us?

Three or four in the $8/$10 tier I would buy, but no way I'm going to Best Buy on Black Friday. I assume they do it online as well?

My experience with Best Buy's Black Friday online sales are that they sell out almost instantly. Maybe I just have bad luck with that.

last year the only problem I had was WONDER WOMAN 4k for $10.... everything else was fine.

Remember that if Best Buy sells out, a lot of the pricing will be available on Amazon as well as they typically price match.

omg, yes. I would never even consider leaving my house on Black Friday. I just order them online as soon as I can (if you’re an elite member you get early access) and hope they ship quickly. At most I would do in-store pickup and get in and out of the store with minimal fuss.

Figuring out what's truly truly OG audio at all on home video is one of the most impossible tasks ever, even when "they" say it is sourced from it on their release propaganda. Its amazing we've managed to solve those questions on the handful of titles its ever been demonstrated on. Stuff like that 4k77 and their sources are probably as legit as it gets.

Shipped from Best Buy. I'm going to try to price match for $7.99 in the 15 day return window from the 13th if they do indeed hit that low on Black Friday on the 23rd.

Seemingly! I did get ahold of FIRST BLOOD and that 5.1 isn't as bad as II's remix, at least it has some kind of activity outside the center channel.

Like Geoff, I'm crossing my fingers the SC overseas releases have a PCM track as the Carpenter UHD's do, but my guess is they'll just be the same as what we're getting here.

From a just-posted Amazon.de review -- guess we ain't getting the original audio

Quote:
the sound in part 1 has very good bass, but tinny voices and partial cracking in the track (sounds like digital errors thanks to the editing), Parts 2 and 3 lack bass.

'Kay. Well I'll log on that Friday and see if I can get a few like Hitman's Bodyguard, but won't cry about it if I can't.

Today I´ve bought "Rambo II and III" in Germany. "First Blood" wasn´t in the store. I came too late. All discs were gone.

I think that the picture quality of "Rambo III" was better than "Rambo II". No 4k demo material, however.

Wow, how did some of you already get them shipped?

Kept going back and forth - if I should keep my pre-order or cancel it. I think I’ll keep it, open them, buy them again on sale, return unopened ones with the old receipt.

Wish they just price matched their own store during BF!

I love going to Best Buy for Black Friday. Look forward to it every year. It really isn't crazy; I try to get there like 10-15 minutes after they open, and nobody else cares about the movies anyway. I always get everything I'm looking for.

As much as I enjoy wandering around Best Buy I just don't think I can handle going there on BF morning. Maybe if my local store was in a quieter area but it's in a huge shopping center and I can't handle the traffic, parking, and crowds. I'm hoping to order a bunch of stuff and maybe pick it up close to closing time when everyone else is done shopping. I have $200 in credit to burn there this year and I don't think I can wait for shipping to get all my crap.

If people have previous versions to hand then it's not so difficult. Maybe not perfect all the time, given the variations that occur even on OG mixes, but not "impossible". And the history of the audio on most films isn't as storied as it is/was on Star Wars anyway. As long as I'm not saddled with remixed audio only and have something that in some way resembles the original, if not the OG itself, then I'm good.

To be clear, I actually go Thanksgiving evening after dinner. So there are no issues with traffic, parking, etc.
