Blu-ray Knight

I watched GP and RN in the years of their respective release, and at the time I preferred RN; I was a little disappointed with GP but enjoyed it nevertheless.
Last week I decided to give both films a rewatch on consecutive nights, and I have to say my stance on both films has somewhat drastically shifted. I think GP is, in places, a much more compelling and involving experience perhaps let down only by a somewhat invisible villain. RN is the MI formula at its perfected peak (I've yet to see Fallout) and is slick and incredibly fun, but it doesn't have the heart its predecessor possesses. They're both very difficult to separate and I'm surprised my opinion on GP shifted to the extent that i can't decide which is the better film. IMO they're both better than Abrams's outing despite, ironically, all MI films post-MI3 having some of that Bad Robot DNA. |

Richard Donner directed "The Goonies". Spielberg produced it, but he didn't direct it.
