Seriously though, kinda wished this was released as a standalone PS5 game, with a PS5 banner.

The thing is, have we seen a night and day difference in current cross generation games for PS4 to PS5? A subtle difference in resolution, textures and reflections mostly (plus frame rates), but in comparison videos, the difference is subtle to most people's eyes. Only when you look closely can you see the subtle differences.
The art is equally great in both versions in terms of characters, buildings, vehicles, scenery and special effects. So to wait for the PS5 upgrade is understandable, though it's a good idea to not expect a miracle improvement in terms of visuals anyway. Frame rate would be a bonus for the PS5 upgrade I bet. |

Or are you referring to the PS5 patch that will optimize Cyberpunk via backwards compatibility? |

If not for the last minute delays, this release is no different than GTA V being released at the tail end of a console gen. It sold fantastically well and ran well on the last gen platforms. To avoid a game over some graphic fidelity seems silly. Core gameplay isn’t really going to change when the next gen patch comes. GTA V after all the rereleases is still essentially the same game.

I’m waiting mostly as I want to read reviews as I’m not sure the game is my cup of tea. Setting doesn’t do much for me and WRPGs, including Witcher 3, tend to be pretty meh for me in gameplay as I rarely like the combat, don’t like messing with builds and spending a lot of time in menus etc. I have to really like the setting, story and characters to stay interested in most, and often play on easy to minimize having to fuss with builds and other systems.
Also want to see if there are any major, prevalent bugs given the last minute delay. Performance is the bottom consideration. Framerate drops bother me, but I’d be surprised if you can’t at least get a solid 30FPS on PS5/XSX. Performance worries are probably mostly for base PS4/X1 owners as those consoles are 7 years old and weren’t all tnsr powerful out of thr game (hence the need for mid gen refreshes). The main thing performance wise I’m mostly wanting to see whether the PS5 or XSX version has an edge. I won both So I can grab whichever is best. If equivalent I’ll go PS5 as my Sony Gold headset doesn’t work with XSX and I’m getting static and dropouts intermittently when playing with headphones plugged into my Xbox Elite controller. I’m going to buy the Steelseries Arctis 7x that will work with both (and pretty much everything), but they’re sold out everywhere. Last edited by dmaul1114; 12-06-2020 at 01:46 PM. |

I wouldn't sniff at having a Platinum trophy pop immediately with that and Cyberpunk 2077 looks to have a lot of replay ability with the "Road not Taken" style of options. First playthrough sometimes being the "Do what you want" and the 2nd a "Perfect Playthrough" for a Platinum potentially or the "Best Ending". I see myself hopefully revisiting Witcher 3 once the next gen free upgrade drops. |

I heard the game saves will be compatible according to CDPR, but were they referring to the current PS4 game being played on PS5, or most likely the PS5 version update being compatible with the PS4 version? They didn't make it entirely clear in their press release.
Because if the saves are compatible between versions, then there won't be any need to restart all the progress for Cyberpunk if one starts playing on release date. Unless it's to play the character type of the 3. Corporate, Nomad, Street. |

But yes, regardless of whether one plays now in PS4/X1 hardware or that version of that game on PS5/XSX the saves will carry over. On the same platform anyway. IDK if it has cross save across PS/Xbox/PC. |
