FOX's "American Idol" (Season 16)

I didn't mind how quickly the bottom 3 were revealed. Not only did it tighten up the show, but it changed the flow of 1 reveal at the beginning, 1 reveal in the middle, and 1 reveal at the end. In the past it was really obvious who would go bottom 3 based on a typical pacing.
Ashton definitely deserved to go home. I'm sorry that she took one of the wildcard spots.

Yet another horrible performance by Naima. I don't know what the judges saw in her. Such a waste of a spot.

Man, I don't know what the judges and the audience were listening to, but Casey's cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was awful. Seems Kurt is the only one who can pull off Nirvana songs well.

Wow awful??? No way man. No he didnt nail it like Kurt did but who can? I thought he did a good job with such a great risk. That may be the hardest song to sing period. Got Em!!

Wow the ear is a beautiful and strange thing. Scotty number one??? No way. I mean he may be the most popular but he aint in the same class as Pia & Jacob etc...Also no way is Casey in the bottom 3 I guarantee it. Got Em!!

Naima Adedapo - I always like her song arrangements more than her singing but her singing isnt bad either. Decent performance and great arrangement.

Paul McDonald - This was his weakest performance to date as he has always been great. I dont think that song worked for him but it wasnt terrible.

Thia Megia - Same ole same ole from her each week. Very good voice but doesnt take risk and sounds the same. Still a good singer.

James Durbin - I am liking this dude more and more. Great performance. He is a threat!

Haley Reinhart - I dont dig this chick. Yes she has a distinctive voice but she isnt that good and another mediocre to ok performance.

Stefano Langone - He is gettin better and better as I didnt care for him early on. Very nice tonight but still dont think he has a shot to win it.

Pia Toscano - Man what else can I say. She killed yet another tough song. She is and has been a frontrunner!

Scotty McCreery - Another great job singing a riskless country song. He will easily land a record deal and become a great country singer. As popular as he seems to be he still needs to show more to have a shot to win.

Karen Rodriguez - That Taylor Dane song swallowed her whole! I dont care much for this chick either and that was not a good performance at all.

Casey Abrams - Man I love this dudes presence and personality. Oh he can also sing. This was a huge risk and I knew he wouldnt be perfect but it was still a good job based on what he sang tonight.

Lauren Alaina - Man she is a natural and is a star in the making. Effortless and very good tonight.

Jacob Lusk - I still cant figure out how some of these people arent discovered already? This guy is tremendous and is right up there with Pia as far as vocals go and is also a frontrunner.

Good show tonight where contestants sing from the year they were born. It was good to learn more about the contestants growing up. As far as song selections, I think the worst choices tonight were Casey Abrams singing Smells Like Teen Spirit and Jacob Lusk singing Alone. Worst arrangement was Pia Toscano's Where Do Broken Hearts Go (the dance version sounded awful) but she has great vocals.

My bottom three:
Casey, Naima, and Karen with Karen going home.

I don't understand why everyone loves James. He is such an Adam Lambert wannabe! Adam Lambert is overrated, IMO. I guarantee that if people keep voting for James, he'll eventually start wearing eyeliner and mascara. He really annoys me!

Sorry, but it was awful and cringy. Show that performance to any Nirvana fan and they'll probably smack you.

My rankings are not based solely on last night's performance. I'm taking into account everything we've seen, plus their tone, presence, star quality, potential, etc.

To be honest, I am in no way a country fan, but Scotty is undeniably the most consistent singer in the competition. He's also very comfortable staying with what he does best and he obviously knows what kind of singer he is. Sure, Pia has proven she's a strong vocalist (she's been rising in my rankings), but the reason Scotty has been consistently on top is that if you throw all of the contestants right now into the music business, Scotty has undeniably the biggest odds of becoming the biggest star. I'm pretty sure that whether he wins or loses, Nashville will be scrambling to sign him and his records will sell like hotcakes.

Pia, as great a vocalist she is, will likely just get lost in a sea of similar artists. There's nothing new about a singer who could hit high notes. Unless she could write hit after hit (or collaborate with someone who can), her chances of being a legitimate star aren't as great as Scotty's. There's just too much competition in the mainstream music business.

Jacob, Jacob's just not that good. Really. I'm sure a lot agree with me. And Casey, He's incredibly inconsistent. But one thing's for sure, he loves to scream. After last night's atrocious performance though, I'm not so sure the viewers and voters would still want Casey to make it far.

Followed by Scotty, who I'm convinced the day after he is eliminated (don't think he'll win) will have a contract from someone in Nashville.

Jacob was really good that first "live" show and the two weeks following I have not liked him. He's too over the top and his voice is just not that good. He gave a strong performance that week of the Top 24 and hasn't done anything above in the last two weeks.

I'm with jvince, Casey was AWFUL last night. I honestly can't figure out what you see in this guy CZAR.

Well trust me no Nirvana fan would put a hand on me unless they wanted repercussions. Also I agree with u about Scotty becoming a country star but he is no way number one out of this group which is what I am referring to. A few of these singers already got record deals after they are eliminated other than Scotty also. That has nuthin to do with what we are talking about though. Atleast u can admit Pia has the strongest vocals. As for Jacob well just agree to disagree as he is magnificent! We will see if u are right about Casey but I also think u are wrong about him as well. Got Em!!

Glad Vince has a supporter haha. Me and u have pretty much always disagreed on the talent in this comp so thats a given. As I said to Vince we will see if Casey lands in the bottom 3 tonight. I feel sorry for u guys who think Jacob isnt that good. Thats just crazy to me!!!!!!!! Got Em!!

For the most part I agree with Czar except for Jacob. I've liked him less and less as the weeks go by. Same with Paul - he's alright but he's not doing great.

I still like James. Being the only true rocker on the show I am obligated to vote for him. Didn't really care too much for his Bon Jovi attempt so hopefully he's go back to some harder rock. Maybe some AC/DC or Guns 'N Roses would be nice.

Casey is actually my favorite of this season, he is extremley talented. However I agree the Nirvina cover did not work.

I thought as a whole the show last night was dreadful, the worst song selection I have ever heard.

Good lookin out man. I knew there had to be some other smart people in here haha. Jacob just proved lastnight that he could sing anything in my book. The way he sings with his heart into it and he gives his all every time out and not everyone does that. I think he is truly a star. Guess well see how far he goes. Got Em!!

I think it will be Karen or Naima going home, most likely Niama

Still love Haley, I thought the thing going on her chin was a covered up pimple so I thought it was strange at first when Ryan started rubbing it. Judges were right she should stick with blues or blues/rock.

Pia killed it once again, she will go to the end.

Paul is more of the same, I don't think he will make it too much further.

James, I just don't like him much he just doesn't come across as rock and roll as he talks.

Casey. I am a Nirvana fan and a Casey fan, but didn't think he did that great of a job on a difficult song. I do like how he stepped away from the norm and took a risk though.

Scotty, again more of the same but his voice just puts me to sleep.

Jacob was good but not great, think he could have done a better song that highlights his range more.

Stand out performance for me last night was Stefano though, he gets better each time and can see him going pretty far.

Welp I was perfecto again. Maybe u guys should start listening to me! Karen was easily the right choice to go home this week and no way was Casey seeing the bottom 3. That is just ludacris to think so. I am on a roll! Got Em!!

WTF??? Karen was no where near one of the best singers in this group! This is a very deep field and she did deserve a top 24 spot but that was about it. She has no range and her high notes are nuthin special and limited. So far America has been on point but lets see how long that goes for. I love it so far! Got Em!!

Got Karen right as well although I felt bad for her. She may still get a recording contract from the Latino market. She reminds me of Selena.
