EDIT: Also, I'm not sure if this is correct yet, but I don't think they charged me shipping. I selected Amazon Payments for payment, and although there was a $29 shipping charge on the Sound Distributors page, the shipping was set to 0.00 when I placed the order.
Should take 5 or so business days. Thru AMAZON, they Include the SHipping in the price ($258 I believe, as the Sub is $229 & freight is $29. IF you go thru the Sound Distr. page as I did, they list them seperately. But, if you had went back a couple pages you'd have seen a note I wrote talking about sending an email or calling ERIC there, & asking if there was any Discounts going on. He gave me a Code that shaved 15% off the total price of $258 down to $223.65. Obviously you can't do that thru Amazon.

** Just received in WAR OF THE WORLDS (Dvd) & VALKYRIE (Bluray). Can't wait to check out "War of the Worlds" with my Dual PA-120 Subs. I haven't seen this movie in a while, & my home theater has gone thru some Major Upgrades, esp. the 2 Subs. That opening Pod emergence from beneath the street is said to have some Major LFE. Even though it is just a regular DVD, it does have a DTS 5.1 Audio track & I've heard it's Incredibly impressive to say the least. **

Over this past long wk-end, I watched 5 blurays, 4 of which had some Great LFE test scenes: THE MATRIX: RELOADED, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, CUTTHROAT ISLAND, & COLLATERAL DAMAGE (Arnold S.). Read my reviews of them HERE. (I also watched that early 70's disaster flick, "The Towering Inferno", whose audio track left much to be desired)

Default "WAR OF THE WORLDS" - opening scene

DEMO-WORTHY Reference Scene for anyone owning a Sub to test out how it will handle some Intense LOW LFE.

The opening scene of the DVD of "War of the Worlds" has some of the most Incredibly LOW LFE I've ever heard!!!! --- Just after the crazy electrical storm ("that's weird, there's no thunder") outside his house, Tom Cruise runs down the street then into town. He goes over to where a pothole has formed, which starts opening a crack that goes across the street to some buildings & they start cracking up the side, windows start breaking. Slowly the hum of "something" beneath the street is heards & as this scene unfolds, just Before the emergence of the 3-legged pods, you hear some of the most Amazing LFE that will give your Sub(s) a workout from hell!! My Entire Room felt this onslaught, this HUM, that literally Vibrated my floor, my couch, thru to my sneakers into my body.

Talk about a Buttkicker, this was like a full-body Buttkicker on Steroids!! The 2 Dual PA-120 Subs had their ultimate test yet, & again, this is on a normal "DVD", Not a Bluray. When this does come out on Bluray, one can only Imagine what the force of that scene will be like. Who would have thought a Sub Demo Worthy scene would be from a NON-BLURAY Disc??!!

All this occurs barely into the :25 minute mark of the movie, & as I had to run to work, I'll re-watch it again today along with the rest of the movie to see what else lies in store for potential LFE intensity.

No problem. You may want to send me a PM later to remind me

War/Worlds, so far with just that one opening/main scene, is freakin' Intense!! I've never heard such a Low Forceful & Sustained LFE Signal, and again, from a "DVD"!!! Wonder when the Bluray is coming out.

Approximately 3.0 inches in diameter.

Just curious, why do you ask?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I need to know because my sub will be delivered this coming Monday. I have two ferrets and I need to ferret-proof the sub so they can't crawl into the hole. About four years ago I had to take a knife to the speaker of a sub and cut it open as one of them crawled inside and got stuck.

LOL! You know, you could've unscrewed the driver! So what do you use, a bit of mesh or something?

Yeah, I could have, but he was stuck inside crying; I didn't know if he was hurt or not so a knife was the quickest way to get him out. I'll laugh with you now, but believe me, I wasn't laughing that day

Once the new sub arrives, I'm going to (in some way) attach a fan grill from a PC power supply over the port.

Sorry - but man that is a funny post/story. Glad your ferret was ok. Let us know what you think about the PA-120 once you get it setup, etc.

I know it wasn't funny then, but thanks for sharing that and being able to laugh with us now.

Another thing you could do is put the sub on a riser, say 8" - 12" high. You could kill two birds with one stone: getting the sub off the floor for tighter bass response and perhaps at the same time make the port less inviting for him to crawl into. But you know your ferret and whether or not that will work.

You said it man! These subs do kick butt, especially Buttkicker.

I was really impressed too that I heard no clipping, bottoming out, or port noises coming from my PA 120s. I am just amazed at their performance. These were a real best buy. I'd buy two more if I had a larger room and place to put them.

Thanks for the suggestion... However, ferrets are very 'determined' animals. Add that to the fact that they're next to un-trainable and don't really listen to a damn thing. They would probably climb up the riser.

Regardless, I'll definitely post once I get my sub. I really think I'm going to like it and am very excited.

Thanks again to everyone who replied on this thread and my other one... Prior to posting I had no knowledge of PA subs or their reputation and would have never bought this sub.

Yes quite true and that brings up something I have long been wondering about...

They sell a whole series of tower speakers, bookshelf types, centers, and surround speakers. Since PA 120 subs perform so well, why haven't more people been buying their other speaker products? I ask because there aren't very many reviews available. Is there any reason to expect less in performance and quality from them?

Quick question for you guys..has anyone had any issues with the cable coming loose from the back of the sub? I just recently noticed that mine is very loose and almost hanging there. Any suggestions? I have a couple different cables at home I can try to replace it with, I'm hoping that takes care of it.

I've had no problem like that with either my dual PA 120 subs.

Get a better subwoofer cable. I got two 12' sub cables from monoprice.com here and have no problem with them getting loose or coming out of either of my dual PA 120 subs. This cable fits snugly on the rca jack and stays snug. Don't use the cables that come with the subs either. Those are junk cables. These monoprice RG6/U 75ohm cables are perfect for subwoofer connections.

I am using the monoprice cables (although mine is a 6') that have been mentioned here. I was just curious to see if it was my problem, or if anyone else was having the same issue.

Is it the cable that's loose or is it the rca jack itself on the back of the sub that's getting loose?
