BTW, I know we brought it up earlier about how Trank said we'll never see the "better" version of the movie.

The sheer amount of finished scenes in the trailer that are not in the movie absolutely leads me to believe that there is probably a great deal of fully finished footage lying on the editing room floor that could be used in an extended cut.

Fox already got us to double dip with their Days of Future Past: Rouge Cut. Maybe there actually is a Fantastic 4: Trank Cut somewhere out there.

Hope so The Thing jumping out of the plane didn't need to be cut.

yeah, and there is a LOT of post-production on those scenes in the trailer. At a minimum from what we've seen there are 3 entirely separate parts to that scene that are all completed with VFX and color grading. I'm simply not going to accept that they spent all that time and money finishing those scenes just for the trailer.

I definitely think there is a lot of fully finished footage that Trank completed that Fox cut.

It's not so much he was an entitled pompous *******, the problem lies in the fact that once he comes back from the other dimension he is just a walking bad guy dialogue cliche spouter with no distinctive characteristics other than being a crash test dummy with neon highlights.

I could have gotten behind this version of Doctor Doom if they hadn't made him so bland and forgettable.

Toby Kebbell was capable of so much more in the role, and quite likeable pre-transformation. It's a shame they hamstrung him and stripped him of all personality in the final act.

I just don't think Dr. Doom is that compelling a villain. Maybe that's because he's from such an early stage in Marvel comics' life that he didn't have to be particularly complex.

Whatever it is, he always just comes across as flat and generic. His motivations are simplistic and boring, he's way over powered, yet pretty easily defeated in battle.

In the comics because Doom was actually the political head of the country of Latveria he had diplomatic immunity so the Four could never really touch him.

Very eh

The first hour and 20 was pretty boring... really nothing happened... then the last 20 minutes there was a big out of place action scene.

Trank says his version was way better... but, his version was that first hour or so, and that had very little going on.

20th Cent Fox would be wise to make a Sony-esque deal with Marvel... save face, make some money, have a solid product.

Unfortunately that's the situation with a lot of Marvel villains, like how Christopher Eccleston's talents were wasted as Malekith.

Oh definitely, constructing a robot on a desolate world is easy.

My thought after watching the film was: 'god' Doom could have been elaborated. The return to Planet Zero is basically "hey, there's no green goo around anymore, where did the green goo go". Wouldn't it have been cool to see him, say, build his own Latveria out of Planet Zero? Turn the rocks into a castle and stuff like that. Would have at least been a good way to show off his powers.

A lot of people did but look in your toy collection and what will you find? Technicolor Batman variants. You didnt want them but you bought or received them anyway. That trend really started for Batman Forever. DKC and Returns each had one or two figures that were in multicolor but still had variants in all black, Forever not a single one, unless you were lucky to get the two pack.

Nope. 10 bucks a piece is the highest I've seen them go for.

And I still have those four Batman Forever glass mugs!
1.) Burton was invited back just restricted as a producer. He was actually the man responsible for Schumacher getting the job. Burton said he was wowed during Joel's interview and told the top brass that "He gets Batman" that was enough for WB to offer Joel the directing job.

2.) Batman Forever turned out the way it did because Warner wanted to make Batman more mainstream thinking by doing so, more money will be made. It worked once. Everyone made bank off of Batman Forever

3.) Batman & Robin turned out like it did because it was put out too early. The script wasn't refined, the merchandising campaign was sloppy, and Warner was pressured by Kenner to introduce more toys. Joel was pressured to deliver a movie like the previous one but more fun and "toyetic". He also had a strict shooting schedule so the studio could push the film out for summer 1997.

WOW, this movie must be absolutely horrible if the best there is to talk about is Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. If those movies are more discussion worth than Fantastic Four I think I will have to move this film from my wait until netflix queue down to the wait til its on television and there is absolutely nothing else on.

At least those movies were fun in the fact you could make fun of them, the F4 didn't offer that, in fact it didn't offer anything in the way of entertainment.

It depends on if you actually are interested in discussing the movie, if you want some one to discuss it with I will share my view points.

But the bottom line is that Jamie Bell was the best part of the movie which I rated 2/5.
