The novelization for Part 6 included an epilogue with Jason's father (I don't recall if the name Elias was used.) I pictured him as Angus Scimm.

Nowadays, I don't care to meet him. It sounds like a fanfic idea, where every possible little nugget of the backstory is mined, not because it adds anything, but just because it's there. I get the impression Pamela was a single mother, and the story works better that way.

I saw The Last Witch Hunter and thought it was kind of ok. Still excited for a new F13 movie so I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

Might be better that way. I can already imagine everyone (inlcuding me) complaining how this new movie doesn't have the same 80s feel as their beloved classics. If you want classic 80s slasher and camp site, go watch one of the original movies

I'm not pining for another reboot. All they ever seem to care about is idiot fan service and pandering instead of actually coming up with something worthwhile. Honestly, I'd rather see Pamela Voorhees have her day in the sun. She was utilized ONCE, while Jason pretty much became the franchise. They'll never do that, because studios want marketability and profit potential. Jason is the safer bet despite being waaaaaaaay overexposed by now.

The 2009 movie while entertaining still managed to be more of the same. Until they grow a spine and take some risks, then the series will continue to stall.

If it isn't coming this year, and we've yet to see clear signs production is close, the film might be dead entirely. I think Paramount loses the rights to the franchise sometime in 2018 (they were given a five year window to make the film as part of their deal to give WB a piece of Interstellar which Paramount owned)
