Could be a price error? That seems really low for ANY Star Trek blu-ray set. I'm putting in an order.

It's $51 on the dot com. The real price on the dot ca can't be $16. But price glitches are usually caught more quickly than this. Still glad I nabbed one while it was at the new price.

I totally agree, I really don't see any savings at all, last Criterion Flash sale I bought 4 Blu-rays at 98.70 total + 18.80 Sh =129.52 Canadian.
Today same 4 would average out to 32.38 Canadian Each.
Regardless if you are also charged CC fees or Customs that to Me isn't a good deal, this $exchange rate is an absolute killer.

I agree. I just want to correct your math (I'm sure it was just a typo):

Last flash sale 4 blurays would have been 117.5 total (29.38 each). This time they are 129.52 total (32.38 each).

The worst part is that as bad as the exchange rate and shipping from the flash sale is, its still the same price as the amazon "sale" which is 32-33 per title BEFORE TAX (assuming you don't get charged import fees).

Other than the Flash Sale and Barnes and Noble, where is the best place to buy Criterions?

Also, do Canadians have any streaming options for Criterion? I know Hulu is US only, and Filmstruck is going to be US only. The best I can come up with is the library service, and while I can't complain because its free, everything on there is SD.

1. ZeusOnline.ca and HMV usually have competitive pricing @ ~29+. But finding in-stock films are very YMMV.

2. Nope, nothing, nadda, zip. I am familiar with that service, but unfortunately that service is for Toronto residents (and if you work in Toronto and have a paycheck to prove it) only. It hasn't made it's way to anywhere else, other than the Vancouver Public Library.

Grumble... Canada's importing and media copyrighting laws...

At that price I can't even complain about paying the $5 for shipping

Most likely was supposed to be $51.99, let's see if they honour it

EDIT:

Never mind

Apparently I pre-ordered it at the beginning of September as part of another order and it's automatically reduced the price down to $15.99 for me...

LOL!...I probably should have given you the date of my last flash sale purchase from Criterion, it was back in October of 2014! I can't recall the exchange rate then but it was a relatively good deal, since then I've been skipping Flash sales left and right, our dollar sucks wind and has been for what seems a long long long time.

EDIT: AMAZON pulled that one in a hurry. Hopefully those 2 hours were productive ones
According to Camel Camel...... the orig. price was 59.49 and as of Oct.6 52.97 and I believe that is the price I saw when I ordered it today.

If you are talking about the library service, I know that both Hamilton and Ottawa's libraries include a good number of Criterions.

Hamilton even has Blu-rays.

That's great to hear ! The service I was referring to is an online streaming platform that both TO and VAN have access to, from what was originally said, it seems that the service offers only SD quality Criterions. Needless to say I am super jealous!

Yeah, I don't know who is in charge of stocking the movies for the Hamilton Public Library, but they certainly love movies.

Not only movies, but complete series of old TV shows too, and lots of offbeat stuff.

It's all online at www.hpl.ca. Hamiltonians have got it pretty good.

Good deal on Star Trek Beyond 4K gift set:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01IW84L4C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cancelled my pre-order at Bestbuy, which is the same price but this one comes with a little starship enterprise and the 3D version as well.

Nice! Now it would be nice if they would drop on the AMZ excl of Suicide Squad.
It also seems like .ca and .com will be getting different exclusives for this one with .ca being Deadshot and .com being Harley Queen. I personally would have preferred HQ

US actually has both, and Amazon.ca has a listing for the Harley edition but it's currently unavailable.

Perhaps sold out?

Who says it doesn't pay to cancel a pre-order and complain about price? I just re-upped on this one too. 4K + 3D + BR is what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the link, I had not seen that.
Yeah, I don't know about the sold out though. At $117 (for deadshot) for the BD/DVD/DC combo with figurine, that makes for an expensive plastic statue.

it's actually the USS Franklin

IMO Beyond was the worst of the Star Trek reboots (by quite a margin). I'll wait until the price bottoms out, but for fans this looks like a nice set.

IMO ST Beyond felt more like a real Star Trek story, but at the expense of the summer roller coaster action sequences of the first two reboot films. It's still fun, just different fun.
