Default Conan the Barbarian

Broke this out the shrink wrap after a few months and watched it tonight. I wasn't wowed by the 3d but it had a few cityscapes that were pretty. The dialogue was bad and the acting mediocre. It was, however, an improvement over the 2d.

I will, though Cabin Fever is likely to be a dire autoconversion (I only bought it because I have the original and sequels in 3D) so I'm in no hurry to watch that, I have already seen it in 2D.

Izzie's Way Home is a Finding Nemo rip-off from The Asylum so there's a good chance that will be a terrible conversion as well as a terrible film, I will no doubt check it out soon.

Ooops! Noah Is Gone / All Creatures Big And Small / Two By Two (this film has a lot of alternate titles) is real 3D at least, I've already seen it in 2D and I'm sure it will look better in 3D.

The San Base discs I bought as a completionist. The clip of San Base I saw on one of the Best Of 3D discs didn't do anything for me, I expect I will watch these when I just want to get loaded and vegetate in front of the TV.

I was at Best Buy and I spotted something seasonal:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Unive.../35661/#Review

This Digi-book boxset has 8 discs of classic Universal monster greats.

This includes Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D from 1954.

As a kid, I remember a 7-11 store promotion where they were giving away 3D glasses to watch the TV broadcast this movie in the early 80's.

It was the first 3D movie I ever saw and the swimming Creature looked pretty cool in 3D.

BB was charging $59, which was $5 less than Amazon yesterday, couldn't pass this up.

I'm a sucker for nice packaging. When this gets reissued, they will downsize it to nothing.

Default The Tim Burton Collection

Just got this in the mail today. Although I'm not crazy about the cartoons, it made Alice in Wonderland seem reasonably priced.

got zhong kui: snow girl and the dark crystal in the mail yesterday from ebay.

HNI_0036.JPG

just finished it now in 3d, and i agree with the13thman, the 3d just strictly depth only, what helps this movie was fact that this was shot mostly with 3d cameras, and i would watch it again in 3d because it was shot with 3d cameras.

the thing were i felt the 3d really helped were the action sequences, the 3d really enhanced the action sequences, some strong layers, action in 3d looks good.

Nice packaging? This is one of those awful disc-scratching digibooks - you would have to be a sucker to buy it (no offence). You may as well package the discs in a bag of gravel as far as I am concerned. And what's with adverts laying out discs like a pack of cards? Who does that?

Anyway, I checked out Izzie's Way Home last night...

Rarely do I switch a 3D film off after starting it, but this looked so bad, so cheap, that buyer's regret instantly kicked in. Needless to say, it's an abysmal autoconversion that just pushes everything back into the screen. The quality of the animation is extremely poor too, so this probably now stands as the worst Finding Nemo rip-off EVER. Avoid avoid avoid!

Looks just like the Indiana Jones set, Star Wars set, or Alien Anthology set to me.

Not opening till Halloween...price is dropping on Amazon, might go back to BB to PM.

Thankfully in the UK all of those were released with proper cases that don't require you to scrape the playing surface of the disc across the packaging.

Any packaging with no hubs for the discs doesn't serve its basic purpose of safely storing the disc for use and re-use, they are always a nuisance to get in and out undamaged. Card sleeves are cheap and nasty, I always make sure to leave zero or one star reviews for those, the environment be damned.

This week I am waiting for Cold War II to arrive, I got Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out Of The Shadows but I saw that theatrically recently so am not in a hurry to rewatch it, I'll probably do a double bill with the first one at some point, both look real nice in 3D. And I'll have to watch Cold War in 2D before I watch the sequel in 3D, as I did with the Black & White films...

OK, you guys talked me into picking up some UK releases.

Ordered Jungle Book 3D, Alice Through the Looking Glass 3D, The Huntsman 3D, and Universal Monsters Set for about $83 USD.

Until I hit Checkout I wasn't really sure what it was going to cost, but $83 is very good.

I was also expecting to have to setup an Amazon UK account, but to my surprise my regular account worked as well.

Nothing to do now but pray to the Slipcover Gods, please let my Jungle Book be lenticular...

I am surprised as well!! My Amazon US account didn't work on Amazon UK.
I needed to open an Amazon UK account. Maybe things have changed in the meantime.
