No indication whatsoever about which specific edition is being shown, says "USA REMASTER" in one and only "EUR" in the other... I don't think this proves or suggests anything, tbh. If anything, it's comparing the old (EUR) UHD with the new (USA) one.

Have there been any detailed evaluations of the new Atmos tracks? A couple comments I've seen here have indicated the DTS-X track on JP was preferable. It would helpful to know the differences between these mixes.

Regarding the Cinema DTS track that has been discussed in this thread, we can't assume that those theatrical DTS CDs were decoded and mixed properly. The LFE and Surround levels are handled differently than your standard home video 5.1 mix. More info here:

My mix of choice is the corrected DTS DVD, at least until I can get my hands on the DTS laserdisc track. It syncs up perfectly to this new UHD with a -250 delay.

The DTS file that's been floating around since 2012 was done according to a DTS whitepaper. The DTS disc paired with the 35mm print copy from 2015 wasn't properly adjusted and they didn't say how they captured it.

Reportedly, both the Atmos and DTS:X tracks are remixes with new audio. That's a deal-breaker for me.

Last time I watched TLW with the DTS:X I found the new effects very noticeable and it would stick out against the other sounds.

There's been a lot of talk about the various mixes for JP1, but how different are they for TLW?

I just got the discs and didn't notice "new effects".

Things are moved around to the new audio channels (surround backs & heights) so previously "hidden" sounds are no longer muffled or buried under other sounds in the mix - but if you listen through studio quality headphones you will hear those sounds in the original mixes as well.
