Same here bro. I'm at least 90% watched and not a single film sealed. Lol
It's just awesome having a collection this big as I have such great choices to watch what I want and when I watch. Same with my entire family (and I'm sure many others) watching what they want. Ignorant and jeleous people just don't know the facts and think they know you and your lifestyles. Keep it up and growing man!
And congrats to everyone that hits a milestone in their collecting.

I don't know what it says about my life, but I've watched everything I got at least once (yeah, not much of a "life" here ahahhaha). It's probably because I don't buy a lot of titles all at once and I watch about 2 movies a day (sometimes 3-4 on Sundays). And I agree with you.

Nothing wrong with that my friend. Everyone's lifestyle is their own and you definitely have a life. It sounds like part of that life is film, but what's wrong with that?
I love it and couldn't fathom not having the collection I have. We watch a ton of movies and enjoy it. All of us. I don't watch quite as much as I used too seeing I'm still semi newly wed but that's cool too. We all plan on being here a while so we have plenty of time to spend part of our leisure time watching what we like to do best ( well almost ) and that's enjoying our theater and movie collection. Enjoy

I think it is a waste of money because it depreciates in value. But other than that, it's our hobby and maybe an obsession. I had about 500 blu-rays and hd dvds combined last year. I got rid of my hd dvds and slowly replaced them with Blu-rays. I think I have maybe about 800 blu-rays and I have about 100 on my amazon cart ready to purchase. I also have hundreds of dvd tv shows and many blu-ray tv shows that are not part of the 800 movies. I need mkre shelving to buy more. I am obsessed, I easily have maybe $15000 invested. I never pay full price though, I find sales and buy on release dates.

Like I said, it's a waste of money but its nice to be able to own movies that mean something to me and allows me to relive old memories. It's a good way to bring girls to the apartment.

I have watched most of mine. Those I haven't watched, I have seen before either in theaters or some other form. I may have about 5 still sealed.

I don't watch TV at all,... maybe that's one reason why I can watch so many blus.
(I watch TV series on disc but don't have any type of TV service.)

I can't really believe the rate at which my collection grew,... Seems only recently I was around the 350 range and thought to myself "wow, I can watch something different every day of the year" ... and now there's a lot more....

Still... I hope to live quite a while longer and I tend to watch something every day. Yesterday 3 things ... Harry Potter, Frozen and Jaws 2 (on dvd ... )

I don't drink, smoke, or go clubbing ... maybe that's why I have so much time for movies.

dumb comment.

I have over 2000 BDs none of them are sealed and right now I have a low of around 15 that are unseen, every other movie on BD I have (still over 2k) has been seen at least once and many of them many times.

There are 365 days a year even knowing third grade math it should be easy to see that a single movie a day would mean over 2k in 5.5 years and BD has been around since 2006 and we are 2014 (a lot longer than 5.5. years) so someone does not need 24/7 movie watching to have seen them all with many of them numerous times.

As for why keep buying when someone has unwatched films? the simple answer is they are not stupid. Do you go to the store and just buy exactly enough food for the next meal or are you smart enough to realize that you will get hungry again and save yourself some trips by having food in the fridge and pantry? do you wait until your gas tank is empty and then walk to the gas station before the next time you take the car or do you realize that you might as well have some gas in it because you will take it again? Same here only a fool can't realize that he won't want to watch a film again so why wait until the last minute. I buy BDs when it makes sense and I watch them when I feel like it. Sooner or later that always happens and films don't go bad so it is never wasted. And why buy more films (in general) because there are constantly new and good films coming out on BD (either because they are newly made films or they catalogue and it is the first time they are on BD) and I don't have them yet and I want to have them.

What do you care what the rest of us do with our own money, maybe if you had a decent job (probably need to improve your math and reason skills a lot) you would not care about spending a few bucks to enjoy a movie.

ahhhh, slimdude rants are always amusing

don't forget that we're not the ONLY people in our families and many times our collections encompass those other people in the house as well. I know I'll never see my entire collection, cuz tween adaptations and most Nicholas sparks movies will never grace my eyes. but my wife sure will. and vice versa. she'll never watch my horror movies but I'll pound through those in a heartbeat.

Probably won't remain there as I start watching those in my collection I haven't seen before, but for now...

103 more to go. I might be able to jump that hurdle by years end. Quite a few great titles coming up plus many I have yet to get.

I only have about 10 unwatched titles.

Way to go! My buying has slowed down dramatically. I'm approaching 600 after a little over 7 years of buying BDs. No plans of buying into another format for a long time.
