The problem with Scream 4, and why we never saw the Scream 5 and Scream 6 Wes and Kevin had planned, was because the budget was so high it had a difficult time turning a profit. If Blumhouse did it they would have kept the budget low enough to guarantee success. That's ultimately good for the franchise.

They do a better job with their bigger movies though. They would have made sure Scream was well protected I think. Also, Ryan Turek is their VP of Development or something and he's a massive Scream fan, even made a documentary about it, so I think he'd make sure it wasn't a piece of shit at least.

Blumhouse did a great job with Halloween 2018, and i can't wait for the next 2. I also have no doubt they would do an awesome job with Scream, if they got it. It's too bad, i know how much Ryan and Jason Blum wanted it.

Either way, I'm excited for this new sequel.

Wasn't Dimension Films a division of Miramax? Disney used to distribute them but I don't think they ever owned them.

There are (now locked) videos on Vimeo of "Parkside Alpha" auditions.

It's happening!!! I just wish they went with more well known actors. Vimeo auditions is a bit amateur. That's how the TV show was cast if I remember.

Disney hasn't owned Scream for years now. They sold Miramax in 2010 (hence why Scream 1-3 got Blu-rays from Lionsgate), Scream 4 was handled by The Weinstein Company (as Bob & Harvey took Dimension Films with them once they left Miramax in 2005).

Well to be fair we don’t have any final cast listing yet so for all we know it could be a mix of known actors and some well-knowns.

Roger L. Jackson might have just confirmed that he will return to do Ghostface's voice, plus 8 more characters revealed:

Trying to think of a scenario in which the original trio get involved, especially if the movie isn’t set in Woodsboro. The best scenario I can come up with is this happens in a new town where Sid is living/working (perhaps as a counselor for Teresa or a teacher at the school which would connect her to the new kids). The murders start up again and Sid is connected because of her closeness with the targeted kids. Gale comes to town to get the scoop of course and Dewey tags along to protect her and Sid. Sid could have a husband/boyfriend/love interest and maybe also a friend who are both teachers at the school and they would be additional suspects/victims. That would give an organic reason for the original cast to be involved. Otherwise I can’t see why Sid would go to a random town where new murders are happening and put herself in harm’s way again unless she’s connected to the new kids in some organic way that doesn’t feel shoehorned in.

Out of everyone to get to return, Roger L. Jackson is absolutely the key player to get otherwise it all falls apart. Part of the reason the Scream TV show was absolutely atrocious in my opinion was the fact that the killer voice wasn't intimidating or memorable at all. Just like everything about that show, it felt like a low budget knock off.

Meh, I'm kind of annoyed it's gonna be filled with high school teenagers and their drama. Didn't we get enough of that in S1, S4, and the TV show?

If Sidney is really coming back, then make it all about Sidney. Otherwise, what's the point? Mise well be a reboot.

I agree. I want at least one more Sid-centric movie. I have a hard time believing Neve would come back for just a meaningless cameo so I want to believe the filmmakers have something great up their sleeves and plan to have Sid involved in a big way. I want it to be mainly Sid’s story so we will wait and see..they have admitted to being huge fans of Scream growing up and talked about how much it meant to them and shaped their love of the genre. You would think because of that they would want to involve the OG trio in a meaningful way.

From what we know so far, I'm going to guess the main protagonist currently lives in Woodsboro but goes back to her "hometown" to investigate a series of murders. The killer is probably someone following her from Woodsboro and knows the legend of Ghostface in that town. She might seek out Sideny and the gang for help.

If there’s a Woodsboro connection it would make sense for Gale and Dewey to be involved since Dewey is the sheriff and the last we saw Gale was married to Dewey and living there. If it’s NOT Woodsboro I feel like they need to have a good reason to involve Sid, Gale and Dewey. If they just show up to help it will seem cheap and kind of a stretch (kind of like Randy’s sister just showing up in Hollywood to give them Randy’s tape - felt like it was trying too hard.)

One other possibility (as much as I dont like the idea) would be that this will be a Wes Craven's New Nightmare type of sequel where The killer is going around a random town and committing murders based on the movies and the original cast are are playing their real life selves.

This could also be a clever way of bringing Stu back. Since he would still be alive as Mathew Lillard, he could turn out to be the real killer (or one of them).
