I found a shop today that was really proud of their BDs - priced between $5.99 and $9.99...and even lame movies that are fairly new were going for $7.99 and $9.99.

So, I wouldn't actually call it a score...unless you count the chuckles I got. They do buy BDs at $3 each, so that's not too bad.

Now you just need to find one that sells Blus for $2 - $3 and then you have arbitrage.

That's the plan.

Just found this thread (looking around for another ) ---- so, seeing as there's 35 pages so far, for some of the Regulars in this thread, can you guys let me know what the rough going rates are for Turning In ones BDs? I think I saw a few posts where you might get $3-4, $5 per movie, is that right?

Thanks in advance.

For most shops that was years ago. The average shop gives $2 for blu rays and sells for $4-$5

Oh well - I can try to gather some of the lame ones I have that won't prob ever be watched again, or are just not that great to begin with, & maybe make a trip one of these days. Luckily, there's one in town that I can call or drop in on, see what they say & might have in-stock also.

Thanks for the info.

Same in in our area. Average $2. More for seasons.

Man I envy you guys. I live in a small down outside of Scranton, PA and I think there is maybe 1 pawn shop within an hour and it sucks. This is the type of area where I would think a pawn shop would do pretty well, too. If I had the capital, I'd open one myself.

I think pawn shops in our area get good stuff because the only other movie trade in place here is a FYE and the pawn shops pay better than FYE for movies.

I stopped in my local pawn shop last week and it's probably the last time I'll waste the effort going over there. They've down-sized the blu-ray section from 4-5 shelves (nearly floor to ceiling) to a single shelf. Bargain bin titles only, and the prices are still too high (you have to buy in bulk to make it worth it). Ah well, at least I've still got Half Price Books and Disc Replay which knock it out of the park sometimes.

Stopped by my local pawn shop tonight and added the following films to my collection; all for $5/each:

50/50
Knocked Up
Men In Black (original)
Valkyrie

My shop had a bunch of titles that I still needed but only felt like dropping $20 this week.

I went to one of my local shops that charges 2/$10 on Blu rays. I picked out all that had code sheets in the case (about 6), went to the counter, and asked if I could buy just the code sheets.

The fellow said, "guys usually buy the movies, use the codes, and sell the discs. The codes probably don't work. You can have them."

I felt guilty and bought a couple of movies anyway. So, for $10, I got Inglorious Basterds and The Possession on BD, with codes, and the codes free for Killer Elite, Silent Hill Revelation, and Fruitvale Station.

Inglorious Basterds is a digital code that I gave away. I'm waiting to hear if it worked. All the others are valid UV Blu ray codes, except Fruitvale Station. I'm pleased.

I am pleased.

I'll be visiting there often.

I am yet to find a single Blu from shops where DC does not work. It's great that the guys let you take the code sheets. That's awful nice of them. : cool:

That's good to know. I'll have to be more attentive to them. Since I'm a UV man, I have disregarded the DCs.
