Same, and it would be such a shame if they lost a NC bid simply because their star couldn't play, but if I had to choose seeing him healthy would be by far more important then an NC bid.

Well, I think that goes without saying. But, if he is cleared to go, then I'd want an effective Tebow and not just a guy who's a shell of himself.

Well, he's not playing in the NFL, he's playing in college, where he's contributed to winning two national championships and a Heisman in 3 years. Oh, and he's about to break the SEC rushing TD record.

He's an outstanding college player.

I don't like the guy. I think all the antics are annoying. I hate the Gator chomp he does (good thing he wasn't playing the LSU-UGA game the other night...) But he is really, really, really good.

If he plays, UF wins. LSU is not that good yet.

Lackluster? There's so many upsets its incredible! It's a GREAT season so far.

Have you seen Alabama play? They might be better than "really good." Florida, too, obviously.

I like Florida in this game even if Tebow doesn't play. LSU has had 2 last second wins in a row and I think they are due for a loss. Florida is a great team and has had 2 weeks to prepare for this game.

Also, there is no way Tebow is overrated. Overexposed, but it's not his fault that ESPN and every other media outlet feels the need to report on his every move. He's among the best college players ever. Maybe he won't be a great NFL player (we'll see) but that has nothing to do with how great a player he is now. If Florida wins another national title it will be hard to debate Tebow isn't the greatest college player of all time.

I think it's a shame if a team can't pull together well enough to win without a single player.... even if that player is the star quarterback. IMO... this is what makes Alabama the better team over Florida. The sheer amount of depth and talent on that team is awesome. They lost a star defensive player two weeks ago... and it hasn't even caused a tiny wrinkle in overall defensive performance.

I think it was the second game in the season where AL was ahead by a wide margin early in the game.... Saban had practically the entire second string on the field before halftime... including the second string QB. That's smart coaching. Recruit quantity of talent... and give them all experience on the field... and have more ability to weather the unexpected.

Yeah, that Saban is a saint!

Losing a defensive player -- any defense player -- is not the equivalant of losing Tebow, arguably the best college football player of all time.

Yes, programs should have depth, but that doesn't mean your backups are as good as your stars. All players are not created equal. You can't just send in another Michael Jordan should he go down, or another A-Rod, or another Peyton Manning, etc.

UGA lost ~ 24 players to season ending injuries in 2008. You cannot replace that much. And about half of those players = 1 Tebow.

And, again, I hate Tebow.

I agree Tebow is a great player. My only point is that the talent underneath him hasn't been given a chance to develope. How many games has FL been ahead by 21 points or more... and you STILL don't see them pull Tebow out and give the back up some experience on the field?

No argument there! That is the way Meyer does it, and it's frustrating. He kicks field goals in the last minute while beating the crap out of Miami. He calls two timeouts in the last minute while beating the crap out of Georgia. Etc. etc.

When Meyer kicked the field goal against Miami might have been the funniest gambling moment I've ever seen. I was at a sports bar and someone started screaming at the TV because Florida covered thanks to that field goal and the guy had a grand on Miami. This wasn't a rich person either, it was a gambling addict who probably makes $30,000 a year bartending. I'd really like to see Florida have some down years so some of the teams he's screwed over can get revenge, although coaches like Richt probably have too much integrity to rub it in his face.

Couldn't agree more. MSU gave them all 60 minutes of that game and lost on that last second goal line stand pretty much only because their QB made a boneheaded mistake on the keeper. UGA couldn't tackle in that last series that led to the final TD, so again it really was less about them doing it right and more about the opponent slipping. They have yet to really impress me, and I don't think they are the fourth best team in the nation, just as I knew my own Ole Miss was not really fourth best when we occupied that ranking. I gotta take UF, Tebow or no Tebow.

According to the Palm Beach Post Tim Tebow is unlikely to play even if he's medically cleared. I have no idea what kind of track record this site has so I don't know how credible the story is. They quote a professor of neurology and pioneer in concussion research who states that the first step in returning from a concussion is riding a stationary bike and elliptical machine and after 24 hours there's no side effects they can then run on a treadmill, followed by weight lifting 3-4 days later and returning to practice within a week. Since Tebow hasn't been cleared to ride a bike yet it would seem to be unsafe for him to return to the field in 4 days.

Also, if Tebow is unable to return the backup quarterback would likely be punter Chas Henry because Florida does not want to give up the redshirt on Jordan Lee.

That would be terrible if having to have your punter fill in was the reason they didn't get a chance to go for a NC. Lee looks like he'll be a STUD qb as long as Urban brings in people for his style of play since he can't do the Tebow stuff, but lee throws a choice ball.

I had no idea their talent was so shallow at that position. Hopefully this crisis will make Meyers rethink his preference for running up the score instead of rotating players. It's not classy... and this shows just how not smart it is.

its actually smart since Jordan Lee would lose his RS status and he'll become an amazing qb just looking at his physical/mental assets, but if he started him that would be a years worth of starting he'd lose.

Don’t let Meyer fool you (all coaches stretch the truth) his team will be ready to play Saturday night. All dept charts look shallow when Tebow is your starter.

I'm not questioning the wisdom of saving the red shirt. More the wisdom in NEVER taking your star out no matter how big of a lead you might have when you know you only have a punter to back him up. Yeah.... it's football and anyone can get hurt at any time... but that's all the more reason to reduce the time on field for your star when it's feasible AND give those back ups some valuable experience.

LOL.... well I will be cheering for you guys this sat. I'd rather Alabama face an undefeated LSU than an undefeated Florida in the NC game this year

It's extremely unlikely Alabama and Florida would play in the NC game. SEC championship game is very possible, but the loser of that game unfortunately will have a hard time staying in the BCS top two. As much as I feel Florida and Alabama may be the best two teams, until we get a playoff system, it'll be hard for two SEC teams to face each other in the NC game.

Tebow and the other Florida starts do get taken out of the game. Tebow did not play the 2nd half of the first game against Charleston Southern and he was out after two 2nd half series in the Troy game. It is also believed that he would have been taken out in the Kentucky game if they scored in the drive he got hurt in. At the point he got hurt in the Kentucky game it was still a 3 possession game in the third quarter so you can't fault them for not taking him out by that point.
