I'm glad I didn't waste my money on this. Sorry to hear about the folks that did. Good luck to all of you,
HMNY was a subsidiary of a scam Indian company prior to MoviePasses acquisition. Where people went to jail have judgements of stolen money from investors there.

It really is a good idea not to confuse the fundamental concept moviepass started with the crap thats been going on lately and while mitch is the CEO of MP, Ted the penny stock scam artist is in charge of parent company HMNY.

Some peoples schedules at work/ home and location to theaters/ times patience to see a film its still a wonderful great deal.

But for a majority of people its probably more hassle then its worth. It is for me I'll drive 15 more miles and do the Dolby experience with AMC then deal with this lol

Atom has been giving out two free tickets to various users on Fridays lately via a text giveaway, and I happened to win recently...... so my dad and I just finished watching MI6 in IMAX no less, for absolutely nothing (a $17 value EACH).

So, thanks Atom. You're cool with me despite your MoviePass shade.

I watch all movies at my local AMC. Really considering A-List.

Atom has some great promos. Who wants my $8 code for Mission Impossible?

I can't believe people thought MoviePass would stick around.

Allowing repeat viewings was stopped like the day before Infinity War, but I get your greater point. Some people truly abused it. I read people would just check in as they were passing by a theater just to get some extra reward points or whatever. But MoviePass should have prepared themselves better for those things. It's their own fault.

Bur this company is just so inept and at this stage of the game, it's straight up crooked. Taking showtimes off the table without any warning is just wrong. The service is just basically unusable for most of us. It's just crazy how bad things have gotten.

Ill always have fond memories of when the service was awesome, but this past week has been truly shameful.

I'll take it. Would love to treat my wife to the movie before her school year starts back up.

One thing the shady CEO didn't mention in the e-mail: the price is going up to $15 per month. Between this, surge pricing on most showings, and the unreliability of the app and which showing will actually be available, it makes cancelling an easy decision.

News about the price increase: link.

If they had all these fraud prevention and one movie limits from the beginning they might've survived a little longer.

Currently thinking of abandoning ship and getting AMC's service. Does anyone know if they're still locking in that 19.99 price right now?

Showtimes are back in and people can check in again. So I guess the lesson here is, if you want to see a movie at night, go and buy your ticket early!

They are. That won’t be changing for at least a year. They put out a presser saying they gained 175,000 subs in the first 5 weeks of operations and that they want 1M within a year. The $19.95 price for one year from your sign up date is their way of gaining subs fast.

I'll to that noisy snacks/snack wrappers. But the feet on the back of the seat is the worst. I know some probably love them, but after all of these years, I still haven't taken to stadium theater seating. Yeah, it's fine when the theater is almost empty. But to squeeze into that in a full house is just not my cup of tea.

The lights on any smart phone used just takes me right out of the movie magic.

I doubt I would go to see any big flick on opening weekend. I'm just too old for that shit... the hassles, the lines, and all of the above.

If I was wealthy, I could just pay the $25+ to attend movies at one of those posh theaters with your own personal recliner or bed or whatever setup they have... But that's kind of the set up I have at home, minus the 10,000 watt speaker system and the giant screen, of course...

I have 2 AMC's within a few miles of me. I don't go to the theater that often, but, if a movie came out that I really liked, I'd want to see it again, maybe several times, so for me the AMC Stubs Premiere is the way for me to go.

How should they have prepared themselves for that?

People freaked out when it was alleged that MoviePass was tracking your location to see if you were actually at a movie or not with the GPS tracker.

How could they have stopped the slickdeal scammers from checking in and buying tickets just for the rewards points and not even watching the movie? Or buying tickets then scalping them to friends for profit?

When they added the photo stub thing to try and limit abuse people were up in arms. "Oh if this is how its gonna be count me out it's such an inconvenience".

At the end of the day, those of us who used it the right way are caught in the same crosshairs as those who abused the system. I have not complained much about their service because I've gotten way more value out of it than ever imagined.

It's why it saddens me to see people jumping ship and cancelling their subscriptions after getting like 1000% value out of the service for months. So much for brand loyalty. MoviePass has saved people hundreds and hundreds of dollars but people are outraged at having to pay 9.99 for a month because the service has been shaky for a few days.

So even the indie movies might be affected. lol
Checked to see if Blindspotting was available before I left the house. It was. When I got to the theater it had been blacked out, and the only things within a 60 mile radius available were Hotel Transylvania 3 and Teen Titans Go. Cancelled.
