Anybody else seen the shelf build video on youtube from dvdcollector1974? I am going to attempt to be building one for myself some time soon.

My collection is extremely disorganized and scattered across multiple book shelves, so here's a small sampler of what I have (my entire PS4 game collection included), plus some DVDs from the heyday of my original home video collecting days.

i know this is really late. but this is a great idea!
amazon has the Saunder on sale for $40 right now so this might be the best case scenario for me as i need a new shelf

I have 5 of these units and swear by them. (2 full of Video Games) (3 Full of Blu Rays/DVDs) The reports of bowing shelves are grossly overstated. I never even noticed until others complained about it on these boards. It is true that they sag slightly in the center, but if the shelves are full... no one will notice. If the shelves are organized or decorated... no one will notice. If the shelves are empty... they won't sag. In other words, cut new shelves if you feel the need, but I'm telling you it's unnecessary.

Actually, you were right first time up, these ARE Billy bookcases.
I have a few Besta bookcases in another room for my book collection, why I got a bit confused.

Dimensions for each one of these are 31.5x79.5x11 "

However, each one also has the extension piece on top of them, which is an additional 11" tall
Thank you for the info! I was trying to figure out the depth based on your pics.
I've been thinking about going with the Billy line, and your pics might have just sold me!

How many single disc Blu's do the Sauder O'Sullivan's hold? I see conflicting reports all around.

My previous tower was just about filled up (I would have been able to fit only one more movie in it), so I needed a new one. I couldn't find one that suited my needs, so I ended up swapping with one my parents had that worked out perfectly. Unfortunately, it won't be too long until this one fills up, but I can fit a few more movies into the extra space above each row in the meantime should the need arise.

Anyway, here's some pics of my collection in the new tower.

I'm super pumped about my new shelves. I had been looking for new shelves for a long time since I had run out of room but never found anything I liked. Finally, I decided to get some custom made for blu-rays. I just got them and painted them and it has made a world of difference!

Approximately 62 standard viva Elite size cases per Shelf. 5 Shelves per unit. Grand total of Roughly 310 Blu Rays total per shelving unit. (Give or take 5-10 Blu Rays depending on size differences and how tightly you like to pack your movies). Worst Case is probably 300 if you like a lot of loose space, Maybe 315 if you have some slightly thinner than average cases and pack them tightly.

This holds 801 regular sized blu-rays.
If you utilize the open shelving on the short runs, you can fit around 950.
If you could, post pics of the build/process/progress.

Then you could use the top of the stand with some bookends or something for more storage, right?

For sure! Easily another 50 - 55 could safely fit on the top with bookends.

Very nice! What kind of shelf is that? How many BD's does it hold? How tall? I really like my sauder shelves but the collection is growing and eventually I'll need something taller. This looks like it could work. Expensive?

I got it from Amazon while on sale. The link is here http://www.amazon.com/Prepac-Black-Triple-Barrister-Storage/dp/B001KW0BGK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439829339&sr=8-1&keywords=Prepac+BMB-1200

I paid $216 CAD. says it can hold 900 (or so) blu rays. I really like it, just measured and 64" x 54" x 7"

Filled up my first shelf last night completely. I got 287 in there, but this is the shelf that has my 3D releases and my Steels, so a ~13-23 difference is not bad in that scenario. I still have the top of the stand and the entire next stand to go, so I think my roughly 590 SKUs will fit comfortably.
