Thumbs up Awsomest Comic-Based Movie Ever!

"Kick-Ass"

"Jesus, guys! Doesn't that bug you? I mean, thousands of people wanna be Paris Hilton, but nobody wants to be Spider-Man."

That quote tells you all about what kinda movie this is: A comic book fanboy making his dream a reality. This movie keeps it real (bloody) and is just hilariously fun! The first time our hero steps out to stop a crime, he is hurt. Badly. So bad, that it, in fact, made him a better hero. Or at least one who could take a punch, thanks to nerve damage and metal plates. Upon awakening in an ambulance, he asks the paramedic to conceal his identity. This leads to one of the funniest rumors ever! I mean, he was "mugged and stripped naked" according to the story (since the paramedic disposed of his clothes), and what conclusion do high schoolers come up with? He was raped? Of course not, these are teenagers we're talking about here. No. He's gay! That is so freakin' High School! One of the greatest scenes in the movie is when Dave gets his "supersuit" in the mail (from eBay, of course) and he tries it on for the first time. How excited he becomes after looking at himself in a mirror and exclaiming, "I am f**king AWESOME!", had me rollin' like a mug! I could actually see myself, a once VERY BIG (and kinda still am... at least concerning my older back issues) comic book fanboy, getting just as pumped! The casting in this movie was just fantastic. Aaron Johnson as our title hero, Kick-Ass, was absolutely PERFECT in the role of your typical comic book fanboy, Dave Lizewski. Squeeky voice and all. Once in full costume, he was just so wonderfully awkward. Every swing of his arm was as sloppy as all get out! As pointed out by someone in the film, he should probably change his name to "Ass-Kick", but man, if he doesn't get'cha rootin' for him when he's fighting off three big dudes tryin' to beat a poor guy to death! I was right there with the kid who had the cel phone filming the whole thing: "It's f**king AWESOME!!!!!" The build up to this was quite funny, but with a very scary tone, letting you know trouble was heading his way. Too cool.

However, it is soon discovered that he isn't the only superhero in town. These other heroes are unknown to the general public because they leave no survivors... or at least any that would be believed. Nicolas Cage brought his "A" game as Big Daddy and his alter ego, a loving father with a rather deranged twist, Damon Macready. I ain't exaggerating when I tell you that he gives the performance of his career! (He, personally, came up with having Big Daddy talk like Adam West's Batman, and it was flippin' brilliant, in my opinion! Oh, yeah. I ain't humble about it at all. ) Oh, good gravy, if he isn't fan-friggin'-tastic in every scene! The first time we lay eyes on Damon, he's prepping his daughter, Mindy, to take a bullet at close range with the promise of bowling and ice cream afterwards. That's right. He shoots his 10-11 year old child in the chest (protected by kevlar of course). She is expertly played by Chloe Moretz, the adorable, filthy-mouthed, killing machine: Hit-Girl! Good gravy, was she flippin' cool! The things and lines this girl could pull off- WHOO! Like to blow my socks off! I hadn't seen a kid impress me this much action-wise since watcing little Ernie Reyes Jr., as Tai, in the 1985 Motown kung-fu classic "The Last Dragon"! This brings us to the the best number one pick for Chris D'Amico/Red Mist: Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who shows up after Kick-Ass. You can plainly see this guy is no superhero from the moment he leaps from that dumpster. I was expecting a goofy sidekick to go along side our hero, but I got a whole lot more! Even Kick-Ass remarks, "You're so not what I expected." He certainly wasn't.

The movie had homages out the wahzoo! Dave lives in what looks an awful lot like Aunt May's old neighborhood when Peter lived with her in "Spider-Man". We also have a scene with our hero attempting a leap from one rooftop to another like Peter did. Big Daddy has elements of Batman in his costume, and little bat stickers adorn the inside of Dave's locker. Actually, Big Daddy & Hit-Girl remind me of the Dynamic Duo in "The Dark Knight Returns", where Robin was a girl. There's even a shot of a full skeleton, "laced" with metal plates and screws, to which Dave exclaims, "This is awesome! I look like frikkin' Wolverine!" And how fun was it for me (but sorta annoying and yet amusing in a weird way to everyone else) whenever they were in the comic book store, or just showed random issues, and I saw ones that I actually own or have on display in The Den?! (I already admitted I was a fanboy!)

In conclusion, it was just a fantastic joy to watch and I highly recommend it to other fanboys and non-fanboys alike!

She's Out Of My League(Netflix)

Director: Jim Field Smith
Cast: Jay Baruchel, Alice Eve, T.J. Miller, Nate Torrence & Mike Vogel

Film:4/5
This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be and I'm a sucker for comedies. I liked how this was centered around the guy and not the girl, which is a change. Jay really proved to me that he could be a leading actor, at least in a comedy. I had no doubt that he could. T.J. Miller is funny as usual. His character was great.

This film was really funny and I was laughing a great deal. I'm surprised I haven't heard much about this but I understand because I feel that most people feel like I did. But I highly recommend everyone to check this out. Def worth a view.

Well slightly teased earlier.

OldBoy

I liked it, mainly because the story was really good and I think it has one of the best scripts ever. I usually don't really like Foreign films, they go a little too artsy for me, and this has it moments (like the huge ant on the train) but it said grounded and was more stylish than artsy and I like style. I also don't like Foreign films as the subtitles take me out of the movie, I focus more on whats on the bottom of the screen instead on what is going on, plus you never really catch the entire impact of the acting, since you'll be reading in your head with your natural voice and people on screen will shouting in anger. But what I got the acting is really awesome in this. The twist was ok, though I little far out, the villian type guy was a little to villainous for my liking, with his well over thought out plan, but I guess that's me being picky. I think in places it overdoes it with the sex, just because it can. The Hallway fight is awesome and the violence it's pretty cringe worthy

I think I'll give it a very nice

There is no argueing that it is a 5 star show. Everything about the entire series is excellent. And while the PQ and AQ are outstanding, there are more than a handfull out there that exceed it IMO.

The tin it comes in is so classy and detailed, it should win an award for best packaging.
i agree the packaging treatment was awesome but out of all the blu rays i've seen and owned Avatar has the best PQ by far as far as AQ Transformers is INSANE!!!!!!!! These movies are so far ahead on the technical side there's no comparison. Thats just my Opinion though.

Dont shoot me for this but for some reason i cant go to bed without putting on Clash of the Titans (2010). This movie is seriously ENTERTAINING. Popcorn flick for sure. If you own the movie pay attention to the theme is AMAZING. Not nice like TDK nor Inception but very good.

Not quite true. He doesn't think he's better from his wealth, but he does not appreciate much in the way that the people he meets actually care for him, hard nosed to live the life he rather had, while others are trying to survive with their everyday lives, some of them even suffering for it; that is a type of snobbery. Snobbery is a type of ignorance (Which actually would be a more appropriate word).

I haven't seen it, not sure if I should bother with it at all. Sure I do enjoy mindless entertainment but this doesn't look cohesive to me, yeah "cohesive", not sure why I use that word though.

I love those types of movies as well, but this one is bad. Almost every aspect of the film is poorly done, so if you're already on the fence, I wouldn't recommend it.

I've noticed we probably have a very similar taste in movies
