Basing opinions on one example doesn't really make a case, though.

That's like saying, because of the DNR debacle on Patton, I'll never buy another Fox blu-ray again.

All i know is underworld 4 2d from 3d sucks, and i feel like i was ripped off. sony knows they messed up and wow look at what is happening now: spiderman, men in black 3, and ghost rider all get seperate 2d and 3d discs. that should tell you something. amen!

It tells me that if they know they messed up, and are aware of the issues, then they know how to fix it and it's very unlikely it'd happen again. I don't really care either way, but it's just wasted discs to me.

And that one disc ultimately makes all the 3D/2D discs Sony did right without problems irrelevant?

they are fixing it by giving us separate discs, and it hopefully wont happen anymore because, again hopefully, they will abandon the same disc for 2d and 3d. in the end its personal preference. i prefer separate discs; you dont care either way.

Yep. That's exactly what I said.

No, my point was considering what happened to one of their more popular 2D/3D releases last year, most [here on this forum who remember and experienced it] are glad they're doing it the way they are. Period. Don't add to my simple statement. Personally, I bought the 2D release of Underworld, and will most likely get the 2D release of Spider-Man, so it doesn't matter to me either way.

Well wasn't really implying that you did but that's due to my lack of explanation

The way I see it Underworld is that its release has created a lot of controversy against the 2D/3D combo format.(Not from everyone, but from a percentage of the community. And there was plenty enough to begin with.) In my opinion if Underworld had been released with a proper 3D transfer there would've been much less people talking about seperate discs or the same disc. There would have still been conversation about the subject, but in different context. Movies converted to 3D (not talking about Underworld and Spider-man since they're native) are better suited for separate discs due to technical reasons, but movies like this that are native should have no problems if coded and transferred correctly on a single disc, unless there are additional visual and technical aspects that require separate discs.(Tangled comes to mind with the background adjustments.)

I get the single/multiple discs argument, but i think solely basing it on Underworld Awakening's release is a bit unfair when looking at Sony's track-record with the format in the past. Of course I do understand where its coming from but still. Mind here that I am only talking about the people that base it solely on the issues with Underworld. All I'm saying

it has nothing to do with the 2D and 3D being on the same disc. It does not affect the PQ or AQ at all. Because its basically the same data that is just played in 2D instead of 3D. So to have the 2D and 3D on the same disc does not damage the quality.

What was wrong with Underworld is it bacause it was not the IMAX open matte release. But Spiderman isn't either so what is the difference

I wanted to ask, will the Target bonus discs come in the case? Or will the bonus discs be separate from the case, like The Avengers?

Considering the image is the same exact cover art as the standard set, Im guessing it is the standard set with the bonus disc attachd to the back

The Friday Skyfall explodes into theaters. It's a double Sony day. Also the Friday I have to give a presentation ().

It might drop or you could just ask them to price-match.

and that was a pricing adjustment to make up for an ad mistake. $19.99 wasnt the intended sales price on Avengers 3D. That also was $24.99

Oh, yeah heard that, it surely was a technical mistake... BTW i would've totally got the Avengers 3D set if it wasn't for the crappy packaging by Disney.

You are right that being on the same disc isn't what was wrong with Underworld's 2D transfer on the 3D disc. It's not because it wasn't an IMAX version though. It's simply because they screwed up, which is a shame because it kept me from being able to get the 3D release. I don't have a 3D TV yet, so it was pointless for me to buy it.

Not directed towards you specifically, but in the end, this is all meaningless since this isn't Underworld. The good thing about separate discs is that particular thing will never happen again. I look forward to getting the 3D figurine release.
