Awesome! Well, I hope so anyway. I have not seen the first one yet. Seems like a solid backing that the first one will be great.

What about R.I.P.D.? Do you think they will do a MRs have them 7 months apart (I know they were 6 months apart). WB could have GL2 open November 2012 and GL open June 2013.

Mark Strong talks more Sinestro (video)

http://splashpage.mtv.com/2010/08/06...een-lantern-2/

Quote:
Back in January, "Green Lantern" director Martin Campbell revealed that Mark Strong was up for the role of Sinestro opposite Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan. Perhaps best known for his more recent villainous roles in "Sherlock Holmes" and "Kick-Ass," Strong's hiring was met with general approval from fans of the original comic.

While Sinestro's visual appearance was recently shown to be true to his appearance within the comics, MTV News recently posed the question to Strong as to whether his character would allow his power ring to do most of the work for him or if Sinestro would have a physical part in the action as well.

"Half and half," replied Strong. "You very rightly point out that when we have a scrap together, Sinestro tests Hal initially. And a lot of that, because he's an accomplished Green Lantern, is done through the power of his thought. But there's some physical stuff, too."

He also talks about the second film a little and what its apparently about (most of us already knew what it would be).

Micheal Goldenberg to write Green Latern 2 script

Quote:
Screenwriter Michael Goldenberg, who has done time on Warner Bros. multi-billion dollar Harry Potter franchise as the writer of The Order of the Phoenix, has been hired to pen the sequel to the studio's forthcoming tentpole Green Lantern, says Variety.

Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim were previously hired to write a treatment for the sequel that would have Ryan Reynolds return as the DC Comics superhero who's part of the Green Lantern Corps. All four worked on the Martin Campbell directed first installment, due next summer, and Goldenberg's material was deemed valuable to the filmmakers, making his re-hiring all the more logical.

Goldenberg's credits also include Peter Pan and Contact.

I wonder who they'll get to be the villain of Green Lantern 2. I feel like, outside of Sinestro, Green Lantern's rogue gallery is pretty weak.

[Show spoiler]Sinestro is the main villain of the second film by all indications so far.

Unless...they use the second movie to tell the story of his downfall and then use the third film for him to be the actual main villain.

Which, actually, I think would be a better idea.

I don't have any problem with more returns to the GL universe of DC. My only fear is that this first film may not interest a whole lotta folks. I've found Green Lantern a difficult sell when recommending it to other folks I know who I'm sharing my trade paperbacks with. I think they find it hard to get beyond the whole "he uses his rings to make a giant screwdriver" wackiness of some stories. I am jazzed about seeing how GL translates to the screen, and I enjoy Reynolds' work, too, so it's a win/win for me.

He's taken a lot of flak for "Superfriends", but the recent DC animated played up the "CHOSEN to be a hero..." angle--
Which focuses attention on old-school character, for when you get tired of psychologically messed-up antiheroes like Wolverine or Batman...Making GL a nice DC equivalent of Captain America's marketing, another character who might seem too "old-fashioned" to sell if you didn't get to know them.

(Me, I always preferred Wonder Woman as one of the few heroes who didn't have moral or psychological demons as a reason to fight crime, but I can see how GL fits in the same category as well.)

i dont think Sinestro really achieves villain status in the first one from what theyve been saying, unless they are being misleading on purpose. but either way im sure Star Sapphire will show up in the second or third one.

Direct from the art department of the recently wrapped Green Lantern movie set, here is the first official look of the ring-slinging drill instructor Kilowog!

Quote:
Although Warner Bros' superhero film, Green Lantern, has just wrapped it's principal photography, the hardest part has just begun. The film's director and crew will be moving back to Los Angeles this week to begin the long process of post production, which for his movie in particular is a daunting task. Not only is the Green Lantern suit Ryan Reynolds wears in the movie completely computer generated, but the majority of alien Lantern Corps members are as well.

And speaking of Corps members... eager Green Lantern fans have been waiting a long time to see him, and here he is now. The Poozer-stopping Kilowog:

PICTURE HAS BEEN REMOVED AT REQUEST OF STUDIO
