I love how no matter which thread and which film, somehow these things always bring out the worst in some people.

Really. Were now down to "you didn't get it" & "you just need everything explained to you" territory? What's next, "my dad's better than your dad"?

This is why I've stayed away from the Star Wars thread (And will happily continue it do so) I can only imagine the bile being thrown both ways. Just be happy us Conan fans have a choice, and both choices are of equal PQ to boot.

Nope. I streamed it off netflix not too long ago and I think it is just awful. I forgot how little actually happened and what did, it was poorly executed. Even the Wilt fight is poorly edited and executed.

I can't wait to watch the first one though.

Hell yes I am going to buy it, I thought it was good also, not as good as Barbarian, but still entertaining none the less.

If anything for the fight between Schwarzenegger and Sven-Ole Thorsen. It's one of the best sword fights on film IMHO.

Well I was just making a point and then the troll showed up. And from what i understand I don't have a choice. I can get the international cut with the princess at the end or the DC with the moby dick scene and the princess at the end. I want the original US cut.

Oh and my dad IS better then your dad

I hear you, I wish we had both versions on the Blu-ray, but the only way to get the US Theatrical version is the very old non anamorphic DVD I am afraid, which sux, sure would have been cool to have both versions for all to enjoy.

I remember being so let down by this when i first saw it. But I made myself like it because it was Conan.

However this film is pretty much unwatchable now.

Would have been better with the orginal director's ending where Bombaata helps Conan get into the castle at the end and then tries to worship him but Conan does not want to be worshiped but in the end carries him off to the sunset.

Sorry guys, there's just too much hatred for Destroyer! I actually like it! Looking forward to the soundtrack when Conan takes on the soldiers in the underground layer.

I don't like Destroyer, but I do dig the musical cues when the Ice Wizard is preparing to ambush Conan by hiding in the mirrors. It's a great set-up scene too, but the monkey suit in the actual fight ruins it.

I don't feel like reading 39 pages of this thread to understand (particularly because I haven't seen the movie before), but I'm gleaning from the last few pages that there are 3 cuts of this movie? One of them is on the region free Fox BD, one of them is on the US DVD, and one of them is on the US Blu-Ray? Is that right?

The three cuts, thus far, is:
The U.S. Theatrical Cut, International Theatrical Cut, and the Extended International Cut.
The U.S. Theatrical runs at 126 minutes and is available only on a discontinued DVD and I think one can buy The U.S. version from VUDU. The International Theatrical runs at 129 minutes,(U.S. BD apparently) with a slightly altered ending from from the U.S. The Extended International Cut runs at 130 minutes with an added 1 minute scene(Imported BD and the current U.S. DVD).

Hope that helps and isn't too confusing.

What have you brought to the table??

In fact your troll like behavior and lack of a point has me believing you have never seen either cuts.
Why don't you just stop replying to him? You two are cluttering up the thread. There were 2 new pages yesterday, and 50% of the posts were you two bickering.

I actually grew up only knowing about Destroyer, and I watched it at least 100 times. I am definitely buying it.

So please....

What are the differences between the 126 min cut (discontinued DVD) and
the 129 min International Cut (US Blu-ray)

It can't just be the princess at the end of the movie--that couldn't add up to 3 minutes.

Thanks again folks.
What is wrong with just looking at IMDB?

i picked up the conan the barbarian BD at walmart last week -- out early. it appears to be the same cut as on the DVD that came out a few years ago (collector's edition), and i have to say i'm disappointed in the transfer. it may just be the source, but some shots are IMO either very soft or very grainy, much more so than i would have expected. again, it could be a perfectly good representation of the film image, but if so, again, i find it a bit wanting for a film from that period.

I think I am going go with the H.K. version for Barbarian and then stick with the U.S. version for Destroyer. I also think I'll go ahead and replace my U.S. copy of Ip Man with the H.K. version as the transfer is much better.
