How's it going Hamp.

I really can't even begin to explain how much of a difference it has made. I thought that it would help improve the sound quality a noticeable amount, but nothing like what I'm getting out of it. All of my speakers sound much cleaner, and the imaging is just amazing compared to my old Sony. It also makes my two subs sound so much smoother, balanced and deep. I assume a lot of that has to do with the MultEQ XT, but the whole sound stage is so much more immersive, and it honestly sounds like I bought two new subs. Needless to say, it has far surpassed my expectations.

That's good, I'm glad you liked it, I like knowing if a person liked something I recommended. I know wasn't the only person to do so.

It was difficult for me to upgrade from my Onkyo 805, which had the MultEQ XT. It took over a year, but I am still using my 805, it's in the bedroom.

The 800 series is a great level.

How was the move from the 805 w/XT to the 5008 w/XT32?

I immediately noticed the sub improvement. I immediately noticed the sub improvement. (that wasn’t a typo). It was crazy, it was as if I added a third SVS PB12 plus sub without turning up any gains on them.
The bass was great before, but it changed and is fabulous now.

I did have a few issues in the beginning with audyessy, and that was because of mic placement, and the fact that I had changed my seats. The kind of seats I have, I have to raise the mic higher then ear level/ above the height of the chairs.

I really wish I could've held out for an Onkyo with XT32, but the 809 was pretty much out of my price range. I haven't bought any blu-rays in a while, and I've been eating more ramen noodles.

According to Audyssey's website, the XT has 128x resolution on subs and 16x on the satellites, but the XT32 has 512x on the subs and satellites, and " more than ten thousand individual control points"!

I'll bet your 5008 sounds incredible with your Monitor Audio speakers and those awesome PB12 +'s!

I have to admit, Yes the 5008 and the Monitor Audio is just incredible, and with the subs being eq'ed with XT32.

But, I wouldn't worry as if you bought something less, you got a great receiver dude!!!!!
If I didn't think so, I would not have recommended it. I swear by that statement.

I need to enclose the room with some acoustic panels, so we all have/need to upgrade to something better. I think we can do crazy if we ever wanted to keep moving into the next level.

Although I don’t want to move into the next level, because for one I can’t afford it, and the other I am really happy with what I have.

I think I'm getting closer to feeling that way about my setup, and I really wonder what some bass traps might do for my room. It's carpeted, with a big rug over the carpet, and I have the walls and ceiling covered in black cloth, so the treble and upper midrange reflections are fairly controlled, but I wonder how much bass traps could help in a room as small as mine.

I should have been getting some panels myself, instead of ordering the amps I did. Getting the amps is a curiosity more then anything.

I don't see any amps in your sig. What amps did you get, and which speakers are powered by which amps?

Oh, I'm experimenting, I ordered them tonight. Going by the watts my 5008 puts out, and how that drops depending on 5.0 and 7.0, I am trying to take the load off of the rear channels.

I plan to make the 5008 handle the front three, and I ordered (2) Onkyo M-282 amps to handle the surrounds.

From how I checked the numbers, I think it would be a great add-on for what I want, but everyone thinks I should do the normal and get an amp for the front stage and let the receiver handle the surrounds.

I haven’t gotten them yet, since I ordered them tonight.

Oh, if I am talking abit strange, I've been sippin on a 6 pack of Corona.

To be honest, I've had 14 Yuenglings, and I'm watching some old Monty Python tv shows. Hell, it's 5 in the morning on the East Coast.

Crazy! I have two or three beer in front of the TV and lights out. Not that long ago, I did that watching Black Adder. My favorite British comedy. Cannot stand Mr. Bean, wish he would have kept doing Black Adder instead.

Lightweight.

I pretty much never fall asleep watching a movie. I always stumble off to bed, even if I don't remember doing it. I woke up once about a week ago and realized I had left my projector on all night after watching Zombieland. What woke me up was hearing the crazy carnival music from the main menu looping over and over again. I'm always very careful to only turn on my projector when I plan to use it for several hours, and then I shut it down as soon as I'm finished for the night. In the three months that I've had it, that's the only time that's happened thankfully.

Wow... you went to bed with the PJ on? You should remember to put it on sleep mode before you down the 8th beer.

Yes I caught your Easter post.
