I never got the limited food idea. The land certainly supported lots of wildlings and now they have all gone south. There should be plenty of game and Mira is a good hunter.

Well I guess the big continuity question they r asking at all the water coolers at the Wall is where the hell is Mances army? In the time since Jon has left the horde he has walked all the way to the wall, climbed over, tromped around the Gift for a while, got shot with 3 arrows, recovered, hung out at Castle Black and gone all the way to Crasters again. Did they get lost in the woods?

Mance's army didn't leave camp when Jon did. All we know is Mance said for Tormund to wait for his signal and then attack the Wall. "When the time is right...I'm going to light the biggest fire the North has ever seen."

So presumably Mance waited for a certain amount of time before marching.

I imagine the final scene of the season will be Mance army invading with Ygritte making a B-line to Jon Snow.

Episode 9 is "The Watchers on the Wall", so I imagine that will happen then.

Episode 10 is "The Children", which I took to refer to Tyrion and Arya, but could refer to Daenerys' dragons, as well as The Children of the Forest.

When the NW torched Craster's Keep, I was thinking that Tormund and Styr would interpret the fire as their signal.

No. That will all happen in Episode 9. Episode 10 will undoubtedly be Tywin (and Shae's?) death(s) and Lady Stoneheart's reveal.

I just watched the new episode. To be honest, it wasn't one of my favorites.

Tommen got a new hat, Sansa got her fingers smooshed, Dany said she's not going to do much of anything, Brienne got to know Pod a bit which was pretty cool, and Bran got to look at Jon.

I enjoyed it well enough, but it's probably the least interesting episode so far this season for me.

I started reading the books after reading Ken Browns review on here for the first season on blu-ray and buying and watching that based off of his raving review. I've been constantly reading Tolkien since I was a kid (almost done with Unfinished Tales again right now), and it seemed like a perfect fit for me. After watching the entire season 1 on BD in one day and absolutely loving it, I read all of the five available books in less than a month, reading almost day and night non-stop. I didn't realize until I got caught up that GRRM has been working on these books for 23 years(since 1991), and how long I might have to wait until the next book.

I personally find GRRM's mention of doing the Dunk and Egg prequels or holding off and doing several theatrical films to end the series as absolutely preposterous and just a pipe dream for him to waste more time working on other things, eating way too much, and simply just lazy procrastinating on his part, which he loves to do.

Since he has already shared his basic plot lines for the ending of his books with B & W, and with the obvious clues in the show that they are going to proceed full steam ahead with the story regardless of his work ethic, I really hope this urges him to get to work.

I would hate to see him rush ahead with his ideas just to finish the books, but I would love to see him get a fire under his ass to complete this series and move on to something else before he dies.

George R. R. Martin may not be my b!tch, but I feel like he owes it to himself as much as me to finish the damned books before he dies.

P.S.: From my last post: No Tyrion =

P.P.S. : Yes I'm very heavily buzzed right now and reposting this sumb!tch. I love these guys:

doesn't Ygritte attack from the south side of the wall and Mance from the north side at different times??

It's been a little bit since I read the books, but I don't recall the Lannisters gold running dry being in there. I remember Cersei making a general mess of things later by defaulting on the loan to the iron bank and making that crazy deal with the faith. Am I just forgetting it?

Be that as it may, if it is a change I do like it. Gives more of a sense of true need and vulnerability to them.

You do realize that Game of Thrones is one of about 20 things he's working on, right?

No this wasnt from the books.

I was a little confused how the show set this up. I would have put Tywins reveal to Cersei about the gold before the coronation. The need for the Lannisters have for a rich ally like the Tyrells would have further supported Cersei pretending to make nice to Margery.

But she didn't have to be nice to the Tyrells then, since Joffrey had already chosen his bride. But now she has control of Tommen and could fight off the Tyrells. Tywin needed her to know why she shouldn't.

Apparently, but why? An army of 100k eats the surrounding land dry and needs to keep moving. Also, the Others r nipping at his flanks so the longer it takes the more he loses. Add the logistics of holding such a diverse army together and ud think he want to get to the wall ASAP. Then there is Tormund who is on the the wrong side of the wall for months waiting for a signal.

Well, weren't Tormund & Co. supposed to send Orell back across the Wall to let Mance know they had made it? That would be reason for delay. Mance had to send a second force (the Thenns) over the Wall.

Also, it was weeks, not months.

It's also not easy to move 100K, especially when it includes women and children.

Yabbut the FOOKING LEGEND OF GIN ALLEY, Karl Tanner, had his head shishkabobbed by Longclaw, which was well worth the watch.
