Heh heh, I'd already left VHS behind for Laserdisc so VHS had no chance by the time DVD rolled around in 1997.

Can't even touch that. By the time this movie came out, my LD player was on the fritz.

HighDefDigest review of this is insane. He says virtually no difference. Insanity!

The reviewer's bio says he uses a 65KS8000. Isn't that what you use Velvet?

If so, what is your experience compared to his comment stating the UHD is darker?

That's why I'm glad other people read reviews, so I don't have to.

I thought the UHD looked gorgeous and the color differences are large and obvious. It might be a little darker but certainly didn't look dim or too dark at all, watching it. Other than the edge enhancement it's a freaking amazing disc.

I read it too and he's way off. Not sure what he was expecting but this disc was incredible.

I hadn't seen this movie in about 10 years, but last night was the night to see it again. So much color. This movie is incredible. I forgot how much fun this movie is. It looked great, the sound was fantastic, and it was a fun ride. So much color. I know I won't be waiting another 10 years to see it again.

Did I mention it had lots of color?

That site is definitely pushing Dolby Vision hard.

Wouldn't be HDD, if they weren't pushing some sort of agenda.

As they should.
You don't understand this technology if you think that Dolby-Vision is a trivial novelty option.

DV certainly makes a heck of a difference, and nobody is saying it doesn't. The problem is that it's odd that they're rating fine releases so poorly. Barely any difference? Are they watching these with beer goggles on?

Yet the reviewer still says he's digging this transfer. What's the issue? Watched this one and it's a great transfer. Can't say however it's a massive upgrade. The HD blu-ray looks good too. HDR does the job here. Otherwise wouldn't be any big difference.

How big of a difference it makes on which equipment is heavily debated. That's kind of irrelevant though to my point that they're pushing it to the point of talking down great looking HDR 10 discs while not making it clear they're using lower nit displays and why that matters. The continued fact that random forum members are more informative and helpful on these matters than professional reviewers is my real pet peeve.
