Fukunaga claimed that he left because 'the studio just wanted a bog-standard, cliched horror film,' but rumour has it that there's more to it than that. As well as aiming for an NC-17 rating, he wanted to play up the sexual element of the book by incorporating new material such as Henry Bowers having sex with a sheep.

Are you serious? Please tell me you're joking. If that rumor is true then good riddance. There's nothing wrong with doing a tasteful exploration of children exploring sexuality. But there's a difference between the studio wanting a 'cliche horror film' and avoiding potentially illegal madness. Last edited by CrazyBlu-RayFan; 03-30-2017 at 01:02 AM. |

Wouldn't say sure-fire considering people really didn't like the first Annabelle. Plus for all we know, IT just had a good trailer and the film is actually abysmal.

No lie. There were other things, too, like Henry ejaculating on a birthday cake, and Bev having her bare belly kissed by her father as he groped her. Fukunaka was adamant that they make it into the film, and departed when the studio wouldn't budge. They were otherwise happy with the script, though, and so the upcoming film will maintain most of it.

Fukunaga is one of the best filmmakers working today. If the final film has even a trace of his artistic touch, we're in for a treat.

No, but you at least shouldn't destroy existing literary material if you're gonna throw yourself in prison.

I just watched the trailer and it looks more like a Stranger Things episode than it does It (moving the flashbacks to the 80's doesn't help, the media's hard-on for the decade is ridiculous). This is especially disappointing after all of the plans (two parts, hard R rating, the filming of subplots the miniseries dropped) there were for this.
And I feel hype will die down once the Inhumans trailer comes out. Once Marvel releases something, it breaks the Internet (and I'm not talking Kim Kardashian or Wreck-It Ralph breaking the Internet). |

But it's the thing right now. Twin Peaks and Earthbound both did it better but people want their 80's nostalgia and still believe the words "a Netflix original" equal quality.

On the Show end of their originals, they are pretty much on pare with HBO and Showtime. Their films though, those have been a lot more hit or miss... more so since they are working with Sandler now.

I'm not dismissing them completely. It's just a lot of them are overhyped and overpraised simply because people get the idea of that any show on Netflix is the greatest thing ever. Too many of their shows feel like more graphic versions of Fox shows and suffer from overlength and the lack of restraint. And The Ranch would one be considered one of the worst shows on television if it were on any other network.
