Contractually obligated.

He should have worked out the deal that Arnold had because Arnold at least escaped.

Despite having a much lower profile these days, Arnold seems to be enjoying taking more creative risks lately and not willing to tie himself down to any franchise. So he probably did a one and done deal and moved on to the next project that interested him.

I mean just over the past 7 years or so he has had a far more interesting output than Stallone.

I was all set to argue for Stallone's output 2012-Present, but looking at them, I'm not so sure. Films in bold are ones I thought were objectively enjoyable. It's surprising to see that neither has really done an good action flick since 2014! Still optimistic for Rambo 5 though.

Schwarzenegger
The Expendables 2 (2012)
The Last Stand (2013)
Escape Plan (2013)

Sabotage (2014)

Stallone

Bullet to the Head (2012)
Escape Plan (2013)

Grudge Match (2013)
The Expendables 3 (2014)
Reach Me (2014)

I made no case for how good the films actually are, just how varied Arnold's seem to be. He's taken far more creative chances in his choices than Sly has.

Bullet to the Head is "objectively enjoyable" but Creed is not?

I was talking about their entire output, not just action movies.

At least Stallone and Schwarzenegger still command large salaries... poor Seagal now gets paid exclusively in produce.

Some positive reviews are starting to trickle out of Fantastic Fest for his new one, Lukas/The Bouncer. Hope we get some release info soon!

Yeah, me too. Getting pretty pumped for this.

Pulled these from VDF.net

From Twitter:

THE BOUNCER is soooo damn gritty that I need a bath and I still can taste its saltiness in my mouth. I am still crunching on the grit. Or maybe I was just grinding my teeth during this intense bruiser of a flick. So badass! Oh and Jean-Claude Van Damme has made a comeback of a lifetime.

THE BOUNCER: Know how older Rocky is always talking about the fire in his belly? This is the quiet, European crime, dour-JCVD version of that & I LOVE it.

THE BOUNCER is a really solid JCVD vehicle that sees him in full hangdog mode. Contains a few killer handheld fights, and a parking garage car chase that’s pretty impressive. Nothing world changing, but a sturdy, well directed departure from his usual junky DTV stuff.

In THE BOUNCER, Jean Claude Van Damme finds himself between a rock and a hard place when the cops want him to rat on the bad guy he works for. Not as much action as you’d expect, but still a fairly good movie.

Midnighter 5 @fantasticfest is #TheBouncer, aka #Lukas, Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme! This might be my favorite midnighter so far, Van Damme is really good in this.

Count me as a fan of THE BOUNCER! Low key French crime thriller with a grizzled Van Damme in a serious role minus any martial arts. Liked!

I imagine we should be getting some release info pretty soon? I really hope it gets a somewhat decent limited release. Not 2 theatres and then VOD.
