LCDs without great FALD backlighting really need a bias light to look right.

One last reminder--the EverythingBlu BluPack (limited to only 600 copies worldwide) has gone live for ordering. Looks like approx. $60 USD shipped. I got one. How 'bout you?

I honestly can’t focus on the film if the pq is great one shot horrible the next. Incredibly inconsistent. Idk what universal were thinking. It’s mostly horrible though. I’m 30 minutes into the film and the hdr has overbrightened the light areas and darkened the dark parts of the picture. Faces have barely any detail in so many shots because of dnr or something of the sort. Then in other shots the detail comes back and it looks great. So weird.

Everything except the boosted contrast/aggressive HDR that people complain about is part of the DI. It's just how the movie looks. They smoothed Watts' face like crazy for whatever reason.

My Zavvi copy of the same 4k steelbook cover art just shipped. I would have gone with the Best Buy one if it released in April.

I don’t mind waiting a month to save ~$15. Plus if my copy were to arrive damaged/lost I would much rather deal with BB than Zavvi.

Yeah. I had a few other movies to pick up at clearance prices so I just added this in. I probably should have waited.

My 4k steelbook copy arrived today in perfect condition Looks great and is a three disc set. There's no goo attaching the J-card but two clear, adhesive discs. This was a bit challenging getting them off without ripping the J-card so you have to take caution. The benefit is there's zero residual gunk at all.

Yes, it’s the exact same UHD. We’re not yet at the point where UHD discs are getting remasters from prior UHD discs, if we ever do.

I hope that the format survives long enough so that this becomes a reality. I would trade vital organs to have some of my favouritest movies re-represented in competent form on UHD.
