Reminds that I need that '08 version. So happy Disney+ has that version on the app. Turns out the 3 film collection has the glossy edition that came out. Had to immediately stop that trash and resort to the app.

So far Predator and American Psycho are the most massive 4K upgrades I've seen, but I haven't got Die Hard or Big Lebowski yet and hear those are on par.

I'm curious but if you have programs like Topaz Labs and DVD fab you can change and enhance the encoding to make it better can't you?

Not sure. I used to have dvd fab in the dvd days, but that computer died and I lost the cracked app. I know you could strip region codes and locks, but don't recall being able to mess with encoding. Pretty much all I used it for was dubbing dvds from the library or blockbuster though.

My thoughts....I just got the 4K version, which also included the standard Blu-Ray release DNR version.
In my opinion the original 2008 non DNR and 4K has way too much grain.

Even though I like the option of watching either, I have to say, I much prefer the DNR version !

Park Circus only lists Predator as a DCP in the UK so is it really still using the DNR’d master than the 4K restoration from the disc?

I have the 2 disc special edition DVD of Predator. Is it worth upgrading to the Ultimate Hunter Edition on Blu Ray? Is the DTS sound from the DVD the same sound as the blu ray or is the Blu better? Any thoughts are much appreciated! Also is the pic quality of this 2010 blu better than the 2 disc DVD?

Personally, I'd say that anything is better than the Ultimate Hunter Edition. Sound-wise, it probably depends on your audio equipment and how discerning your ears are, but nothing can compensate for the unwatchable picture of the Hunter edition (the best mix I have heard to date was the stereo analog mix on the VHS release, I always thought that it had the widest dynamic range but perhaps others will disagree). The Hunter edition is very cheap these days, mind you, you could easily try it out for yourself. Be prepared though, it's shockingly unwatchable. If you are able to read region A discs, it's worth tracking down the initial US Blu-ray release from Fox. It's quite bad compared to the 4K release, but it's amazing compared to the Ultimate Hunter edition, and remains very watchable throughout.

Yep.

They included the Ultimate Hunter Edition with the UHD collection too. In order to get the upgrade you have to get the 4K disc. On the plus side, if you're 4K capable, it's not only a huge upgrade, it's one of the best 4Ks I've seen so far!

Yeah, and the same for the trilogy set. I actually took the UHE edition out of the case and put the MPEG-2 BD in its place.
