From Network's website
"We’ve had to keep this quiet for a while now, but before we take a little break and spend our Christmas in the company of ITV60, we have a rather exciting announcement for you. We have agreed a new deal with Fremantle, kicking off in just two weeks, that will see us releasing a huge number of brand-new titles. The Network catalogue is about to get even more diverse and impressive. This new deal will see us releasing brand-new versions of Minder, Rumpole of the Bailey, The World at War, Reilly – Ace of Spies, The Kenny Everett Video Show and many more. We will also be delving yet further into the Fremantle archives to bring never-before-released titles to your home, as well as continuing releases of current hits including QI, Birds of a Feather, Cuckoo, Great British Railway Journeys and Trollied. All of this, plus the fourth and final edition of The Professionals and even more classics from The British Film collection, makes 2016 our most exciting year yet. Oh, and there will be another sensational announcement flying your way before Christmas…" - See more at: http://networkonair.com/features/201....5YGSGQg8.dpuf |

Seems like an opportunity to repeat Alexander walker's Stanley Kubrick World at War story.
Kubrick invited Walker round to his house one day: as Walker arrived, Kubrick was immersed in watching The World at War and told him to wait because "I want to know how it ends." To which Walker replied, [Show spoiler]

I asked them if their Fremantle deal also covered films and they said that they "can't disclose the full details of the deal but stayed tuned in 2016! Should be exciting."
It certainly would be if they could give the likes of Rebecca, Spellbound and Notorious Blu-Ray releases! |

UFO at last. I resisted the Japanese and German sets because of faults, I hope they're corrected on this release. I'm sure there'll be some coverage here http://ufoseries.com/

A shame Network never got back to me about why they aren't doing Friedkin's The Brink's Job on Blu-ray as well as DVD (apparently a 'brand new transfer', so I don't see why not).
But in other news, there are a few new Blu-ray titles upcoming: The Club [El Club] (2015, Pablo Larraín) Every Home Should Have One [aka Think Dirty] (1970, Jim Clark) Nasty Baby (2015, Sebastián Silva) Great to see them finally release a Larraín film on Blu-ray (I was hoping they would release his film No, but unfortunately that was DVD only), and interesting to see them distribute another Chilean director, Sebastián Silva (though he has made two English-language films before). |

Unless they release the filmed series including Minder on Bluray what possible reason can there be to buy them again?
Surely nobody will be wanting dvd's again just to get adcaps. Their clearance of Love Thy Neighbour is also strange. That obviously will only reappear on dvd but who will buy it again to get adcaps? The show does have a chequered history on dvd but once everyone realises the myth about missing episodes is wrong will they buy it again just to make sure the Coach Trip episode is on the disc in the right place? They announced their renewal of the ITV deal ages ago and we've had sod all. The very least I was expecting was for the ITC shows to be upgraded to Bluray at a rate of more than 2 a year. |

Upcoming Network Blu-ray Releases
Posted March 4, 2016 03:50 PM by Webmaster NetworkDVDBritish label Network Releasing will add three new titles to its Blu-ray catalog in May and June: Pablo Larraín's The Club (2015), Jim Clark's Every Home Should Have One (1970), and Sebastián Silva's Nasty Baby. The Club https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Club-Blu-ray/151412/ Four ageing men live together in a secluded house on a windswept Chilean coastline. Each has been sent there to purge sins of the past, adhering to a strict regime under the watchful eye of a female caretaker. This fragile stability is disrupted by the arrival of a newly disgraced companion – bringing with him the past they thought they had left behind... In this multi-award-winning feature, Oscar-nominated director Pablo Larrain explores the lives of priests who have been disgraced for crimes both proven and suspected, and the moral impasse of the Catholic Church that must both contain and protect them. Featuring compelling performances from Alfredo Castro, Roberto Farias and Antonia Zegers, this is an unflinching yet compassionate portrayal of an ordered world unexpectedly under siege. Special Features: •Pablo Larrain Interview •Original Theatrical Trailer STREET DATE: MAY 30. Every Home Should Have One https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Every...lu-ray/151409/ Comedy genius Marty Feldman delivers a virtuoso performance in this uproariously risque comedy about an advertising executive whose life becomes unnecessarily complicated when he's selected to run a campaign to sex up porridge! Written by Feldman, Barry Took and Denis Norden – and also starring Shelley Berman, Judy Cornwell and pneumatic Scandinavian sex symbol Julie Ege – Every Home Should Have One is featured in a brand-new High Definition transfer from original film elements, in its original theatrical aspect ratio. Poor Teddy has several problems on his plate. His colleague's advice to 'think dirty' seems to have resonated worryingly with his young son, while the vicar's 'Clean-Up TV' campaign has gained unexpected support from his wife; and with Teddy's ineptitude mistaken for talent by his boss, he's been tasked with finding an erotic angle on McLaughlin's Frozen Porridge! Special Features: •Image Gallery •Promotional and Pressbook PDFs STREET DATE: JUNE 6. Nasty Baby https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Nasty...lu-ray/151410/ A film of vibrant contrasts in a dramatic New York setting, Nasty Baby is the latest creation from multi-award winning cinematic auteur Sebastian Silva. Co-produced by Pablo Larrain, it stars Silva, Oscar-nominee Kristen Wiig and actor, director and vocalist Tunde Adebimpe in a morally inquisitive film which deftly combines social commentary with powerfully personal issues in the intense, shifting world of artists and yuppies. A Brooklyn couple, performance artist Freddy and his boyfriend Mo, are trying to have a baby with the help of their best friend, Polly. As they navigate the pitfalls of creating a new life, they are continually harassed by a menacing local vagrant known as 'The Bishop' – their joyous pursuit of parenthood suddenly taking a dark turn when Polly is assaulted... Special Features: •Sebastian Silva Introduction •Original Theatrical Trailer STREET DATE: JUNE 13. |
