So what about the reflection of the vertical detailing that can clearly be seen underneath the shuttle, as Maxwell pointed out? It seems to magically disappear when it passes thru the 'window'...

Only for that first one though. You can't see past that underneath.

Here:

The only one that should have a Bulkhead line is the Purple one. It looks like it was scrubbed out, ala Batman's pebble.

The red is this window, the green is the other window.

Nothing was scrubbed out. It's not there because that's not a window.

No, what you've marked in green is part of the forward facing window. And you've marked in blue the reflections of wall segments on the floor right where you're positing the shuttlebay door should be. Here's what the shuttlebay wall looks like without a shuttlecraft in the way:

It is a window. It is how they see in and out.

It's just tinted!

Yeah, looks like a window to me. The effect remastering people certainly thought the same.

There are several goofs like that sprinkled thoughout TNG, sure, but the reason Maxwell brought it up (and probably wishes he hadn't bothered ) is because the Okudas have been strangely inconsistent when it comes to fixing such things. A shot in Darmok of the phasers emanating from the torpedo launcher was switched out for a shot of the dorsal emitters firing, and the infamous reflection in [I forget which episode] was also removed, all well and good. But in Timescape the beam that's said to come from the deflector array comes from some random place on the left hand side of the ship, and the Okudas chose to deliberately replicate the goof in the remastered version, and it wouldn't surprise me if they've done the exact thing with the 'window' shot.

I think the annoyance of Maxwell, myself and others stems from the "when is a mistake not a mistake? When it's a deliberate mistake!" attitude of the Okudas.

Yellow is ShuttleBay door.
White circle is all that you can see of the front window.
the green is the outline of the Port side window
red is the starboard window
purple is the missing bulkhead line.
you can't see anything under the shuttle becase the shuttle bloacks the bloor. The bottom of the door angles in again, that's why it doesn't show.

Yes, Kaine, I know how windows work! All the windows are deeply tinted. And the DP put a light inside the shuttlecraft in the shot we're arguing about -- that's why the opposite-side window reads as totally black through the camera facing tinted window. Again, CBS Digital replicated the original effect exactly which was always wrong. The phaser beam is showing through the beige carpeted interior of the shuttle!

I can see why the folks at CBS Digital were so easily confused. We're all looking at the same thing and interpreting it completely differently. Does someone have a Type 6 shuttlecraft 3D model? That would solve this issue real quick.

Kaine, that's one funky angle on the shuttlebay door if so. Or are you going to tell me that it's been distorted because we're looking through the 'window'?

I was telling this to Geoff, not you.
All I said was that it was a window.

Ok, so it's not the bulkhead that is missing according to you, Max, is it, It's the fact that they covered a window with an interior Shuttle wall that shouldn't be there.

The real issue is a missing window, correct?
I think someone mis-understood you earlier and that's how this all got out of control.

The real window IS there, it's the black-tinted shape at the bottom of the supposed window in the now-infamous shot.

Lava Lander's got it exactly right, the natural assumption (which also fooled the VFX team) is that we're looking straight thru the shuttle, but due to the angle of the lens the opposite window appears much lower.

WHO FRIGGIN' CARES?!?!?! It's only a matter of simple seconds. The point comes across as intended that there is a window on the other side of the shuttle. THAT can't be refuted despite what you think the geometry appears to be in that image.

I put each disc in to make sure they loaded and played (they did), but I'm still on disc one. Has anyone had any issues with any episodes? I know Chris said he thought there were digital drop outs on "Genesis" and "All Good Things..." but it turned out his discs were smudged with fingerprints or he had dust on his blu-ray laser or something.

Who knows? This could just be someone mad they didn't get a slip cover!

The original effects team - and CBS Digital now - mistook that light-colored patch of set piece as the opposing shuttlebay wall.

Here's a better illustration: if you look at JUST the shuttle, you a visually tricked into thinking the camera is seeing POV "blue," but if you include the upper level, the camera is really showing POV "green."
I just now saw this post. I was busy making a new image.
